DB operations project. They are centralizing the support for Postgres and Snowflake to his team. Right now, they have R&D taking care of it, but it takes up 30% of their time. They need someone who can handle database administration of Postgres on AWS. They have 700-800 databases that have been created. Will need to be able to teach the team as well. They also need someone who has portioning skills in Postgres. Partitioning is a feature within Postgres where they can take a table and divide into logical pieces. This will improve the responsiveness of the queries. Required Skills: Postgres in AWS Very technical and needs hands on experience Postgres tools - PG Admin, possibly commandline- he wasnt sure if it would be used because the cloud uses Gooey. Vacuuming in Postgres CloudWatch- AWS tool for cloud monitoring SQL tuning Data base metrics Backup and recovery Day to Day Responsibilities: Postgres admin duties- Maintenance / vacuuming Tuning Data base metrics Attend daily meetings. Spend time with Kens team and cross train on best practices. Teach them what they should be looking for they have had vulnerabilities identified by AWS but havent decided how to resolve Identify best way to support R&D moving forward.
