Need only local to McLean, VA Or within 30 minutes distance Submission with VA DL or any project is in VA Sr. Python Developer with JAVA Location: McLean, VA Duration: 5 months contract (extendable) Must Haves: 4+ years of Python and Java (Strong Java experience is a must) NOTES: The position is for a Python developer with expertise in CI/CD and Git processes, unit testing, SQL, and Excel. The role involves number crunching, data analysis, and familiarity with simple Unix commands (excluding Unix system administration). While the primary focus is on Python, the candidate should be capable of working with Java code (15% Java, 85% Python) by making changes and additions. Educational Qualifications: Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical field is mandatory Demonstrated knowledge of: - Python, Pandas, and other popular Python libraries - Java - Testing frameworks such as pytest, JUnit - SQL - Linux, Docker - CI/CD Processes, git - Familiar with using IDEs such as IntelliJ (for Java and/or Python) - Excel - Quantitative Finance Role and responsibility: Interact with a finance team and business side to collect the requirements Design, develop, and support software solutions for the given requirements within the financial modeling and research area Ensure new code and existing code updates meet standard technology development practices Work with finance team and other developers to facilitate the reconciliation Help customers to understand the result and to properly use the application Assist in the operational execution of software solutions to assist with the monitoring and control of market and credit risks. The main project involves: implementing financial forecasting in Python, predominantly using Pandas and Seaborn. There is no front-end work, and the role is open to relocation candidates. The interview process includes a coding test where the code doesn't need to run, but the logic should be correct. Candidates must have a Master's degree: in a relevant field, and prior experience in forecasting or the financial services industry is not required.
