Job Description:

This position is responsible for the majority of all Iowa Justice Data Warehouse (JDW) enhancement processes, monitor status of application development and environmental modifications. Migrate the JDW from Teradata to Google/Big Query, and prepare comprehensive and accurate test plans for migration pipelines to Google.

Required Skillset: Extensive experience with database administration, specialized knowledge of Teradata, ETL, and architecture. Knowledge and understanding of SQL and Teradata Utilities. Ability to integrate multiple system management processes and solve complex information technology system problems.

Teradata/Google Migration and Data Governance Activities

Project Description: Develop and provide Teradata documentation needed to initiate the migration to Google Enterprise Data Warehouse. Serve primary contact for current Teradata Justice Data Warehouse (JDW) technical documentation, security, and flowcharts, including network and database details.

Assist with migration tasks for the Enterprise Data Warehouse migration of databases, extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes and reporting. Find areas where the timeliness of current procedures can be reduced (to make the system more efficient).

Project Purpose-Business Case: CJJP does not currently have a staff person that knows and understands the technical side of the Teradata Justice Data Warehouse.

This role would support all facets of data governance and documentation needed by Division of Information Technology (DoIT). Duties would Include table updates, data growth metrics, flowcharts, security/network details, database information, etc. As DOM begins to migrate off the Teradata server, this position will assist in development of processes and stages of migration to a new Googe-based Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Project Purpose Business Objective: Google data pipeline management (SFTP, transfers, account, files, scheduled jobs, etc.).

Ensure technical documentation deliverables are completed as needed for DoIT data governance.

Decrease the cost of hardware, software, and services by migrating to Google/Big Query.

Increase the timeliness of current Dept. of Corrections processes.

Project Deliverables: Documentation that provides business and technical information for the JDW, including flowcharts, security/network details, database information, etc.; Lead migration efforts from JDW to EDW (Teradata to Google/Big Query); Develop, execute, and manage the current and new data process for the JDW and EDW migration efforts; Modify ETL scripts for DOC prison services data, reducing the time to process the data.
