Required * Strong SQL, preferably T-SQL. * Dimensional and relational database modeling. * Ability to troubleshoot SQL query performance issues including the ability to use query plans to find bottlenecks. * Power BI Desktop and Service. * Power BI semantic model design (tables, relationships, filter directions, etc.). * Intermediate level DAX. * Understanding of and ability to make decisions around Power BI Direct vs Import mode. * Ability to think critically about where transformations should happen in a Power BI solution (at the data source vs in Power Query vs in DAX). * Basic understanding of the Power Query Formula Language/M. * Thorough understanding of the Power BI security model (SSO, RLS, Workspace Permissions, App Permissions, Audiences, etc.). * Basic understanding of Windows and Azure-based security (Active Directory security group, Microsoft 365 Groups, etc.) * Experience with a variety of data sources (e.g., static tables, SharePoint-hosted files, relational databases, web-based APIs). * Ability to configure and troubleshoot Power BI service Connections and On-Premises Gateways. * Basic understanding of Git including branching and merging. * Azure DevOps (repos and boards).
