SR. NETWORK ENGINEER

Seeking a Senior Network Engineer in the St. Louis or Springfield, MO areas with large enterprise or ISP network administration experience. The role is responsible for designing, configuring, deploying, expanding, upgrading, auditing, optimizing, and troubleshooting our organization's growing IP network infrastructure. The role requires the ability and willingness to respond to after hour escalations related to outages or events impacting the network. Working independently and working within maintenance windows, as necessary, should be expected. As part of a dynamic team, you will work collaboratively within the organization to ensure network reliability and performance for our customers. This position will initially report to our Chief Technology Officer. Responsibilities: Deploy, configure, upgrade, audit, and optimize routers, access platforms, switches, and firewalls according to business requirements, governance policies, network requirements, vendor requirements, and industry best practices. Collaborate with vendors, contractors, employees, and stakeholders, to develop network designs and solutions that meet business needs. Vendor management, budget forecasting, network equipment purchasing, and network equipment inventory tracking. Perform routine network and network element maintenance and upgrades. Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively implement corrective measures to enhance network capacity, stability, and security. Respond to and resolve network incidents and escalated service requests, including after-hour escalations related to outages or events impacting the network. Collaborate within the organization to implement network changes with minimal impact. Travel to new markets to rack, power, install, configure, and establish connectivity for central office or headend equipment. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and guidelines. Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in IP networking. Provide technical guidance and mentorship. Occasional travel, including, but not limited to, meeting with vendors, conferences, training, strategic planning, community events, new market turn-up, critical maintenance or upgrades, network triage. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Nokia Service Routing Certification, CCNA, CCNP) are highly desirable. 5+ years or more proven experience designing, configuring, and managing large-scale IP networks. Dedicated work area and a reliable internet connection. In-depth knowledge of IP routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, ISIS), EVPN, MPLS, QoS, IPv6, VLAN, VPN technologies, IPAM, DHCP, DNS, and network security principles. Knowledge of Passive Optical Network ( "PON) network architecture preferred. Hands-on experience with Nokia Service Router platform preferred. Linux CLI proficiency. Network monitoring and troubleshooting tools proficiency. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve network issues efficiently. Excellent communication skills. Willingness and availability to respond to after-hour escalation related to outages or events impacting the network. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset to stay updated with evolving technologies and industry trends. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, work in small or confined spaces, and lift up to 80 lbs.
