Thermal Energy Network Project Manager

2 years (with opportunity for extension)

100% Remote

Rate: 

Rate  $55-60/hr on W2 OR 65-70/hr on C2C

Support thermal energy network market development by: assisting with program management; project managing existing and future contracts resulting from thermal energy network program; coordinating with internal and external stakeholders on project development; synthesizing and sharing best practices and lessons learned; and supporting.

Ideal Candidate:

        

Experience with lifecycle cost analysis, economic/business model analysis - to find technical solutions but also
suitable business models, understanding sweet spots in the marketplace.

        

Engineer degree (mechanical is more common)

        

Excellent interpersonal skills will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced, always-changing environment.

        

Technical acumen to be able to work with stakeholders, manage projects/budget, and interpret information to propose suggestions.

        

Experience developing technical materials and presentations for trainings.

        

Required knowledge/experience: Moderate to strong background in energy, decarbonization,

        

Highly favorable knowledge/experience: district energy systems

Mandatory Qualifications:

3-6 years of experience. The role requires project management, budget management, excellent written and verbal communication, customer communications, presentation skills, high degree of organization and attention to detail, ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, experience interpreting and analyzing technical information and economic analyses.

Has well developed understanding of relevant technical principles and their application to a program area. Develops/formulates Deployment issues, problems and needs in at least one technical area.

Has acknowledged expertise at conceptual level of technical skills and knowledge in at least one program area.

Understands State energy/environmental economic development issues.

Has developed and managed projects with little specific direction.

Develops new projects and co-funding sources with own initiative.

Carried out development of several projects through competitive solicitation phase that may or may not result from own initiative.

Has provided ideas and rationale for program development in at least one technical area.

Has demonstrated ability to implement projects in a timely manner.

Demonstrates the capability to manage all aspects of on-going projects with no supervision.

Can prioritize workload with other responsibilities.

Effectively discharges general technical and project management assignments in a timely manner.

Demonstrates strategic thinking connected to the organizations goals.

Has demonstrated ability to effectively head working groups or program teams.

Provides guidance to junior staff when appropriate and can supervise the day-to-day work of interns.

Has full confidence of peers and superiors.

People skills have developed to show leadership and an ability to motivate others.

Has demonstrated ability to produce both written material and verbal presentations that are direct, recognize and focus on issues, are both comprehensive and concise and require editing only in most sensitive and complex areas.

Can negotiate effectively with contractors and interface effectively with customers and other outside contacts.

Has demonstrated ability to prepare and present papers at professional meetings, seminars and conferences.

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

Preference for candidates with background in thermal energy systems/district systems/thermal energy networks, electrification, heat pumps, geothermal.

Bachelors degree in engineering is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

        

Support program management tasks, including managing existing programs and supporting design of new programs.

        

Support team with adherence to organizational/administrative procedures.

        

Develop statements of work and project schedules.

        

Manage contractor relationships and project manage contracts to provide adherence to project work scopes and schedules.

        

Review technical reports and contract milestone reports.

        

Support data collection and management.

        

Support analyzing and managing programmatic budgets.

        

Support thermal energy network market development tasks: outreach; marketing materials; presentations; collaborating on technical, financial, and regulatory studies.

        

Research of emerging technologies and solutions.

        

IT systems that will be used: Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Vmware (remote desktop), Lytho (marketing collaboration).

        

Only prior knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is needed, other software can be learned on the job.
