Job Description : Job Role: Senior Systems Engineer (Puppet) (or Infrastructure Automation Engineer Puppet ) Duration: 6 months+ Location: 100% Remote, in California (Candidates can relo to California, preferably northern California , Bay Area or Sacramento) (must move to California before the 1st day of work starts) Visa: USC, GC, GC-EAD only Must Haves (make sure these below points are on the resume, in the company descriptions, not just at the top in the summary) Must have worked in Academia industry: must have worked recently (current or previous, 2, 3 jobs) at a University or Collage Minimum 7+ years work experience as a Systems Engineer or Automation Engineer or infrastructure automation engineer and senior level exp with Puppet versions Must have: Migration experience with Puppet (version 3 to 6, oldest to newest) they have to know the old versions and the new Experience in any of the scripting language Shell, or Perl, or Python, or Ruby Redhat, Linux versions 6 - 8 Senior experience with web, database, and OS server configuration (Linux, Apache, and MySQL platforms) Proven configuration management experience Large project details: They are Migrating their San Diego Data Center to AWS Cloud - Need a Puppetmaster who knows old school puppet, versions 3 - 6 and Red hat versions 6 - 8 and some scripting/automation JOB DESCRIPTION Job Description Expertise with automation/configuration management using Puppet Good knowledge with Puppet, Puppets declarative language to specify system configuration in Puppet manifests, complex resource dependencies, compilation into catalogs for distribution to target systems/servers, and split Puppet Master architecture. Proven configuration management skills and mindset Experience maintaining large clusters using configuration tools such as : Puppet/Chef Strong practical Linux based systems administration skills in a cloud or virtualized environment - Qualifications Expertise with Puppet Versions from version 3 to newest Operating highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions Strong hands-on experience in any of the scripting language Shell, Perl, Python, or Ruby Experience with revision control source code repositories (Git, SVN, etc- ) Work with development teams to identify and implement automation in appropriate areas Knowledge on distributed applications/enterprise applications is plus.
