Title: GIS Analyst Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid) Duration: Contract Scope of Work Performing intake interviews for new requests; and developing options for meeting departmental needs. Coordinating with staff across the GIS group and across the departments to ensure steady progress toward completion of projects. Designing, creating, and deploying new GIS tools and data sets. We are maintaining department-specific data sets. Designing and implementing integrations between GIS and departmental business systems. Deploying tools and applications to aid departmental workflows. Developing web maps and web services; producing maps; performing spatial analyses. Working with other GIS groups to troubleshoot issues that arise with tools deployed for departments. Training and supporting end users within departments; developing training materials and other user resources. Participating in user group meetings and outreach events within departments to provide updates, answer questions and assist with long-range planning. Consider the long-range view of departmental needs and of the health of the tools deployed to meet those needs. Experience: 4+ years of proven expertise in GIS analysis and related areas. 4+ years of experience with Esri suite of software (including ArcGIS Online, ArcMap, and ArcPro) 3+ years of experience engaging with customers, end users, GIS professionals, IT professionals. in other areas, and management to discuss GIS solutions, business needs, and desired outcomes. Capabilities: Strong understanding of GIS data structures and ability to manipulate and edit data. Experience creating strong working relationships with co-workers in business units and technology teams and across all levels of the organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to express complex topics and issues to a range of audience types and levels of experience with the subject matter. Ability to produce high-quality deliverables while maintaining schedule commitments. Proven ability to proactively solve problems and recommend solutions. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Process orientation with strong attention to detail. Highly energetic, with the ability to deal with demanding pace and changing priorities and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Ability to maintain confidentiality, use good judgment and discretion, and interact with a diverse workforce within the City and customer base. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with Python, JavaScript, or PL/SQL. Working knowledge of departmental business systems (e.g. Accela, Infor, Maximo, WAMS, CCB) Understanding workflows and procedures within one or more client Departments of the City.
