Job Title: Senior IT Data Exchange Technician Physical Work Location and Candidate Proximity: Hybrid (PHEAAs preference for local or PA residents 1st) Accepted Work Authorization: USC only Additional Client Requirements: 6C Clearance (PHEAA will obtain after they start) ON-CALL ROTATION: The Team currently has four staff members on a weekly call rotation. They are primary on-call for their rotation week, and then secondary/backup on-call the following week. When/if there is a conflict, we can easily switch staff around. Yes, this can be done remotely. This role is responsible for our mission critical 24/7 file transmission system. Currently, the frequency of off-hours work is low (typically 1-3 hours a week); however, if the application experiences an outage its a major event/all hands-on deck (the application is typically stable). MUST HAVES: 5+ plus years of relevant experience in a multiple system support environment. Experience with IBM Sterling File Gateway Experience with file transmission software such as IBM Sterling Connect: Enterprise and/or Connect: Direct software. Understanding of how transactions are transmitted through wire protocol using TCP/IP. Advanced experience with TSO/ISPF (IBM Mainframe). Solid understanding of SFTP Effective communication skills necessary to make yourself understood when speaking about complex technical subjects. 24X7X365 on-call. On-call requires carrying a cellphone and responding to calls within the agreed upon timeframe set within PHEAAs standards. Internet connectivity from home is required as part of the on-call rotation. (SEE ABOVE) SUMMARY OF THE ENVIRONMENT: This position leads the focus on the timely, efficient, accurate and secure transmission of data files between PHEAA and its internal/external clients and computer systems. This role is highly skilled with extensive proficiency and works on the most complex issues, independently and is expected to mentor less experienced team members. Lead the planning, development, customization, and maintenance of the transmissions system. Perform the most complex maintenance to existing workflows and setups of new workflows based on requirements received through the Data Transmission Request (DTR) system. Interface with other Information Technology (IT) groups to facilitate setup/maintenance of the most complex transmissions workflows through use of the Change Management System (CMS). This includes but not limited to firewall changes and network setups. Participate in design sessions with IT and business staff to assist with the design of workflows and creation of DTRs. Lead the enforcement of transmission data security. Perform daily verification tasks to ensure that all files have been successfully transmitted, as needed. Document findings. Address Tier 3 support requests and issues received through the Trouble Ticket system. Ability to troubleshoot problems that may arise with the data transmissions workflows, getting to the root cause to facilitate solving the problems in a timely manner. Assign project tasks and areas of responsibility to project team members from basic to complex. Monitors quality and rate of technical progress. Manage highly complex projects, upgrades and provide detailed status updates. Partner with other IT personnel within the department units, functional users, and vendors to provide guidance, manage project implementation or users support. Mentor less experienced File Transmissions Technicians. This may include assigning work, reviewing work for adherence to standards, and provide coaching guidance. Scopes, plans, and prioritizes multiple projects. Participate in Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery planning and testing. May sit on/or participate in industry specific user groups/or committees.
