Position: Data Centre Engineer Location: Reston, VA Day 1 Onsite Job type: Contract Client: Wipro Job description: - Space & Power Delivery Engineer to the Edge and Network Services team. Responsibilities will include the execution of capacity planning of all physical infrastructure globally which includes space, power, cooling, cabling and other infrastructure. Responsibilities: Work with Space & Power design/planning engineers to help execute projects related to cage/suite build out with various colocation service providers. Manage global space, power, cabling and other inside plant infrastructure delivery requirements in support of edge network requirements. Lead weekly syncs with colocation partners and provide technical support and reporting. Manage and track projects timeline, risks and be able to successfully navigate projects on time completion. Lead site acceptance activities with various colocation providers as per Edge network facility standards. Manage multiple projects in parallel and get work executed quickly through vendors quickly and at scale. Present optimized layout of edge site floorplans, allocate space assigned to network function, optical, backbone, IP, compute, etc. Provide input and closely work with other partner/ teams on space/power delivery and associated deployment projects, and other major initiatives that may affect capacity. Internal tooling and data record keeping. Manage equipment delivery from centralized inventory to colocation facilities. Proactively work and align with space & power planning engineers on the roadmap and material forecasting needs for on time delivery of projects. Exhibit proactive communication and think with a product and customer mindset. Implement lessons learned from the projects and focus on continuous improvement of the program from an execution standpoint. up to 30% travel required. Minimum Qualifications: BS/BE Electrical Engineering Degree is desired. Project Management experience. PMP certification is a plus. Minimum 5+ years of experience working in a Data Center Construction environment. Must have a good understanding of reading/analyzing Electrical/Mechanical single line diagrams. Technical in depth knowledge of various regional Data Center electrical and cooling configurations, IEC, NEMA standards, AC/DC power, power redundancy scenarios. Knowledge of engineering principles of the infrastructure architecture (space line up, air flow, cooling etc.) Knowledge of Data Center, Collocations and Remote Hut environments, to include engineering principles regarding power and other infrastructure. Experience with field-based work in POPs, carrier hotels, data centers and Central Office environments Basic knowledge of optical theory, transport technologies and the operation of optical transport systems. (Optional) Experience with optical network design, installation and maintenance for service providers or enterprise networks.
