**Job Description: Senior Data Scientist (Population Health & Patient Experience)**

**Department:** Health Analytics

**Location:** NC Can Be Remote

**Responsibilities:**

1. **Risk Stratification Models:**

   - Develop and validate risk stratification models to identify patient populations at high risk for chronic disease complications, hospital readmissions, and adverse events.

   - Utilize diverse data sources including Electronic Health Records (EHRs), claims data, and socioeconomic data.

2. **Population Health Interventions:**

   - Collaborate with population health teams to leverage predictive models for guiding targeted interventions, optimizing resource allocation, and conducting outreach to vulnerable populations.

3. **Social Determinants of Health:**

   - Analyze the impact of social and environmental factors (e.g., housing, food insecurity, income level) on healthcare outcomes.

   - Contribute to initiatives aimed at addressing disparities in access and quality of care.

4. **Statistical Methodology:**

   - Stay current on advanced statistical methods, including longitudinal data analysis, causal inference, and Bayesian modeling.

   - Enhance the reliability and predictive power of analytical models through the application of cutting-edge statistical techniques.

5. **Program Evaluation:**

   - Develop analytics frameworks to assess the effectiveness of population health programs and care management initiatives.

   - Evaluate outcomes, costs, and patient engagement to inform continuous improvement.

6. **Patient Experience Analytics:**

   - Analyze patient feedback data (surveys, comments, etc.) to identify key drivers of patient satisfaction and areas for improvement.

   - Develop predictive models to assess the risk of negative patient experiences and flag potential intervention points.

7. **Process Optimization:**

   - Examine healthcare workflows and operational data to uncover bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and variability in care delivery that impact patient outcomes and experiences.

   - Utilize machine learning techniques to recommend process improvements.

8. **Clinical Quality Metrics:**

   - Collaborate with clinical teams to design and track key quality-of-care metrics on dashboards and reports.

   - Analyze trends to identify areas for targeted improvement and monitor the impact of interventions.

9. **Natural Language Processing Applications:**

   - Explore using NLP techniques to derive insights from unstructured text data within clinical notes, patient surveys, and social media sentiment to assess patient sentiment.

10. **Data-Driven Storytelling:**

    - Effectively communicate complex findings to clinicians, administrators, and patient experience leaders through compelling visualizations and presentations.

    - Support data-driven decision-making through clear communication.

**Requirements:**

1. **Education:**

   - Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, or a related quantitative field with a significant focus on health applications (for Senior Data Scientist role).

   - Master's degree in data science, health informatics, statistics, operations research, or a related field (for Data Scientist role).

2. **Experience:**

   - 5+ years of experience designing and implementing predictive analytics solutions in healthcare, preferably with a population health focus (for Senior Data Scientist role).

   - 3+ years of experience applying data science to healthcare problems, ideally with a focus on quality improvement or patient experience (for Data Scientist role).

3. **Expertise:**

   - Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and handling large-scale healthcare data (for Senior Data Scientist role).

   - Strong proficiency in Python, R, and SQL. Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and statistical analysis packages (for Data Scientist role).

4. **Programming Skills:**

   - Strong programming skills in Python and/or R for both roles.

5. **Knowledge:**

   - Familiarity with population health management concepts and value-based care models (for Senior Data Scientist role).

   - Passion for applying data-driven insights to improve patient care and the overall healthcare experience (for both roles).

6. **Communication Skills:**

   - Excellent communication skills to effectively translate complex analysis for a diverse range of stakeholders (for both roles).
