Role: FullStack Java Developer with Mainframe code conversion experience Client Name: Maryland State Department of Assessments & Taxation Location: Baltimore, Maryland (Onsite) Background: The purpose of this solicitation is to convert our legacy mainframe code into a modern computer language, such as JAVA or C++ (JAVA is preferred), and move the system to a cloud-based platform in order to enhance security, improve flexibility, ensure sufficient data redundancy, and lower maintenance costs. Current Environment: SDAT currently uses a DB2 Interface and utilizes Stored Procedures for our online Interface. B. The hardware environment for our mainframe is model 3097-ZR1, and the operating system is z/OS 1.13. A technical engineer with 8+ years of experience programming in JAVA 1. Prior experience converting Mainframe technologies to the web, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience with conversion technologies. 2. Prior experience converting Mainframe technologies to the web, including at least (3) successful prior code conversion projects (references should be included as part of the Proposal). 3. Familiarity with COBOL, JCLs, PDS,DB2, tc-Access, Treehouse and CICS architecture required. Additional experience with JAVA, SQL, and .NET is preferred. Responsibilities 1. Inspect and analyze the converted code for its likeness between old and new languages. 2. Review the quality of the converted code and its readability. 3. Learn the requirements of the deployment for the converted code. (Third party components will be included, if applicable) 4. Learn the requirements of maintenance and support of the new coding language. 5. Learn the requirements of the resources for the complete mainframe migration project. 6. Learn the costs and timelines in relation to the mainframe migration project. 7. Convert the entire mainframe and create a production environment. 8. Test production throughout each phase.
