[email protected] Reply to: [email protected] JOB TITLE: Sr. Network Engineer - WLAN Aruba LOCATION: San Diego, CA Visa : Gc & USC Position Summary & Responsibilities As a WLAN Engineer specializing in Aruba technologies, you will be responsible for planning, deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting wireless networks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including network architects, IT support, and security personnel, to ensure the seamless operation of wireless infrastructure. WLAN Engineer: Expert in WLAN installs. Bringing up new APs. Configuring and adding new Aruba 3810m switches. Must be willing to travel around 2-3 times per week to San Diego sites. A lot of the sites are in Downtown San Diego, CA. There will be some after-hours and weekend work (limited amount) 75 sites to be completed towards the middle of 2024, so around 3 per week on average. Occasionally assisting with some LAN work at Gas sites. That may take up 5-10% of their time. The 2 Projects: Handling WLAN Refresh at multiple San Diego sites HQ LAN Refresh Replacing ~100 LAN switches at HQ Will entail months of prep-work, and likely a few months of implementation Going from Juniper EX to Aruba 6300 Network Design and Deployment: Designing wireless network solutions based on business requirements using Aruba products. Conducting site surveys and analyzing RF data to optimize network performance. Implementing WLAN infrastructure, including access points, controllers, and network management systems. Configuration and Integration: Configuring Aruba wireless controllers, access points, and related network devices. Integrating WLAN solutions with existing network infrastructure and systems. Implementing security protocols and policies, including authentication and encryption mechanisms. Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitoring network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to optimize performance. Conducting periodic assessments and making recommendations for network improvements. Troubleshooting network issues and providing timely resolutions. Documentation and Reporting: Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures. Generating regular reports on network performance, utilization, and security. Collaboration and Support: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support network-related projects and initiatives. Providing technical expertise and guidance to IT support teams for escalated wireless network issues. Assisting in capacity planning and scalability assessments for WLAN infrastructure. Required Education, Certifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Certification in Aruba networking (e.g., Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP), Aruba Certified Design Professional (ACDP), etc.). Sr. Network Engineers with enterprise-level deployment skills Experience with cutover methodology, planning, MOPs, day 1 support, and communication style Candidate must be familiar with Aruba AOS and CX platforms. General knowledge of Network Engineering (this is the most critical) Proven experience as a WLAN Engineer with a focus on Aruba technologies. In-depth knowledge of wireless protocols, standards (e.g., 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax), and RF principles. Proficiency in configuring and managing Aruba wireless controllers, access points, and network management systems. Strong understanding of network security concepts and experience implementing security measures in WLAN environments. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex network issues. Travel to the installation sites may be required at times. San Diego-based resources are preferred, as they need to be on-site for site walks, site surveys, and cut-overs. Preferred Certification & Experience CCIE Certification preferred WLAN Experience (Aruba preferred) LAN Experience (Juniper to Aruba preferred).
