Role: Data Engineer Location: Seattle WA (onsite) As a Data Engineer on the Data Incident Management team, you will be at the forefront of identifying, diagnosing, and resolving data-related issues that impact our operations. Your role involves working closely with other engineering teams to ensure data accuracy, availability, and security across our platforms. With your deep understanding of data warehouse technologies, ETL processes, and SQL, you'll not only solve problems but also implement improvements to prevent future incidents. Key Responsibilities: Actively monitor slack channels for issues, performing root cause analysis to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions. Work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve data incidents rapidly and improve data handling practices. Be proactive in identifying potential data issues before they escalate, suggesting preventive measures and improvements. Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies throughout incident resolution processes. Document incidents, resolutions, and learnings to foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Summarize the incident understanding for easier consumption of senior stakeholders Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Proven experience in data engineering, particularly in an incident management or similar role. Strong foundational knowledge of data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and SQL. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in an ambiguous environment. Exceptional communication skills, with a proven track record of working effectively with technical and non-technical teams. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving data issues, with a focus on long-term system health. Experience with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is highly desirable.
