Role: Senior Systems/QA Analyst Work Location: Folsom, CA (Hybrid 10+ years Experience Mandatory. Duration: Long Term Visa: Only for USC and GC DIVISION: Power System Market Technology DEPARTMENT: Software Engineering / Data Science and Solutions Delivery PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Manager of Software Engineering Data Science and Solutions Delivery team, gathers feedback from a broad spectrum of business units regarding the functions of application systems, and performs requirements analysis, engages during product design, and applies test methodology, engineering and product knowledge in the design and execution of testing strategies and test cases for the functional and regression testing of IT applications. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Systems Analysis Works with internal clients to analyze and translate business requirements into system functional requirements and specifications for automated systems solutions, support and training. Performs system analysis and requirements gathering and use-case development with internal and external stakeholders for significant system change. Maintains and utilizes the development processes, tools, documentation and methodologies required to manage the lifecycle of all associated systems and to provide consistency across all areas of the organization. Works with the IT cross-functional team to identify and evaluate new products, develop solution architectures applying architecture and application standards to system requirements. Participates in design, development, testing, and documentation of new system functions. May act as a liaison between the enterprise systems group and internal customers on related systems issues. Analyzes and participates in problem event management of issues related to associated systems. Analyzes system performance and recommends enhancements for test tools and test environment configuration; develops specifications documentation. Systems Functional Quality Assurance Consults with user groups, developers, technical staff and CAISO Management to define the organizations testing requirements Designs and prioritizes test plans, test cases and estimates time to complete test activities. Leads interdepartmental teams in the execution of test activities for all test phases as required. Creates detailed test plans and test scripts based on analysis of requirements and design documentation to ensure the quality of CAISOs production software systems. Takes responsibility for execution and coordination of; white/grey/black box testing, functional testing, system testing, UI testing, user acceptance testing and assist teams in the execution of integration and performance testing (manual and automated where applicable). Designs and directs the preparation of test data; prepares test data, documents detailed results, provides regular and ad-hoc test reports. Prioritizes and manages testing tasks and teams concurrently across multiple projects. Verifies that all test cases assigned to testing resources are executed; verifies that all test plans are updated and documented. Responsible for identifying, tracking and resolving issues as they arise. Trains system users in learning the test environments, processes and tools. Core Functions Collaborates with ISO colleagues to develop "best practices" policies and procedures, and to identify and resolve issues to help create a flexible and efficient organization. Adheres to and supports the core values of the ISO Performs related duties and activities as appropriate TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift, or handle material or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range. WORKING CONDITIONS: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent in general office or equivalent conditions which result in little or no exposure to injury or accident. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Level of Education A Bachelors degree (BA, BS) or equivalent education, training and experience. Discipline Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field. Amount of Experience Ten or more years of related experience. Type of Experience Analyzing, documenting and translating business requirements into technical requirements, communicating requirements to technical staff, and development and execution of plans and cases for testing/validating the implementation of resulting changes. Experience in User Interface Design and User Experience improvements Special Certifications of Technical Skills Must have a thorough knowledge of IT applications development and lifecycle methodologies. Relevant certifications such as CBAP, CSQE, CSQA are a plus. Other Must be able to work effectively in a team environment as coach, facilitator and team member. Excellent communication and analytical skills required.
