Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our mainframe-based systems. As a Mainframe Developer, you will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software solutions that run on mainframe platforms. You will collaborate closely with other members of the development team, as well as business stakeholders, to ensure the successful delivery of projects aligned with organizational objectives. Responsibilities: Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications, including batch processing systems, online transaction processing (OLTP) systems, and data management systems. Write efficient, scalable, and well-structured code in programming languages such as COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, JCL, and SQL. Design and implement software solutions based on business requirements, technical specifications, and architectural guidelines. Perform unit testing, integration testing, and system testing to ensure the quality and reliability of developed software. Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing mainframe applications, providing timely resolution and implementing preventive measures. Collaborate with business analysts, system architects, and project managers to understand requirements, clarify specifications, and plan development tasks. Participate in code reviews, peer programming sessions, and knowledge sharing activities to promote best practices and continuous improvement. Document technical designs, code changes, and system configurations for future reference and knowledge transfer. Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in mainframe development, contributing to the modernization and optimization of existing systems. Provide technical support and assistance to other team members, including mentoring junior developers and sharing expertise in mainframe technologies. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer, with strong proficiency in programming languages and tools commonly used in mainframe environments. In-depth knowledge of mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, DB2, and IMS. Experience with mainframe development tools such as IBM z/OS, TSO/ISPF, File-AID, IBM Debug Tool, and Endevor. Familiarity with software development methodologies and practices, including Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and DevOps. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Certification in mainframe technologies or relevant professional certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Application Developer) is a plus.
