OVERALL OBJECTIVE Reporting to the Systems Manager, the Systems Administrator is responsible for implementation, installation, configuration and maintenance of server hardware, software and infrastructure systems. The position will work closely with the Engineering group, System Security and Level 2 business areas supporting our systems and applications following established guidelines, change control and project management programs. Essential Functions Manage physical and virtual server environment, network shares, and system security components. Administration of network servers, server operating systems & directory services Administration of enterprise network backup systems. Perform installation, configuration, updates and automation of systems and software. Assists in planning, coordinating and managing system installations and upgrades. Collaborate with vendors and developers and internal business users to resolve issues. Provide technical support and training to system users as required Interface with business areas to support their specific product requirements Develop and maintain appropriate system documentation Monitor systems and resolve complex problems. Participate in projects and make recommendations as needed to ensure successful completion. Assist with the evaluation of new business software and make recommendations for enterprise usage. Ability to follow procedures and adhere to established Change Control policies Member of the on-call duty rotation, responsibilities include evaluating and responding to network & system alerts and performing after-hours site visits to diagnose problems. Principal Accountabilities System Administration: Provides support in the daily maintenance of Windows Operating systems, SQL Databases, Backup systems, Email systems. User Interface: Provides effective customer service to internal users for various systems. Backup to Level 2 Support Group. Projects: May be called upon as technical resource for future projects/initiatives Training: Ability to create effective user documentation and provide user training as needed. Maintain current documentation for assigned systems. Currency: Stays up to date with current technological trends in the industry and can provide recommendations to the organization as necessary. Maintenance: Responsible for system upgrade planning, software licensing, maintain user permissions. Travel: Occasional travel to branches and DR site within Connecticut. Required Skills Minimum of two years experience as system administrator required Windows Server Administration, Microsoft Active Directory, networking fundamentals, virtualization, SQL Databases, enterprise backup technologies Working knowledge of common network security measures Comfortable working in a highly secure environment Minimum knowledge of antivirus software Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work both independently and on a team in a fast-paced environment.
