Typically, twice a month and when needed at the data center NOTES about role activities Typical day for this position Combination of support and project work. No one on the team is junior. Total volume of servers both physical and virtual There are 600+ AIX lpars. Servers running on various flavors like AIX, RHEL, etc. The candidate will only be responsible for the support of AIX. Another subgroup within our team is responsible for RHEL. There are 2,200+ RHEL servers. Size of the team onsite and any offshore team to support 6 team members with no offshore component. Volume of on-call on any given week. On-call is somewhat light on average. List of application, database to support on various flavors of operating systems. There is an annual upgrade cycle for the AIX lpars. Current version were moving to is 7.3. Type of storage you are using in the environment - Currently migrating block storage from Hitachi to EMC. Type of tools used to alert system admin /engineers for monitoring ITM Backup software used for OS and data volume groups CommVault for back ups Any cloud software like AWS, Azure, GCP in the environment No AIX running in the cloud currently. DR environment available, if it is then how often you do DR activities once a year or twice a year Monthly and quarterly DR dry run testing Senior AIX System Administrator Seeking resumes for a Senior AIX System Administrator responsible for managing a large number of virtualized AIX environments in the Distributed Systems group within the Information Technology department. The successful candidate will become a member of the Distributed Systems group within the Information Technology Department. The candidates primary responsibility will be to manage the AIX server infrastructure as part of a team of 6 AIX administrators. Work will primarily be remote, with the ability to come into the office or data center on occasion as required. Interviewing will begin at once.
