Please send me updated resume with candidate informatio Job Title: Senior Wi-Fi Engineer / Developer Duration :12+ months Location: Englewood CO 80112 hybrid 3 days onsite and 2 days remote / work from home Interview- Skype the client is looking for a candidate with a strong background in telecom, preferably coming from companies like Qualcomm or Broadcom. They specifically need someone who can design and develop new features for Wi-Fi access points and routers. The ideal candidate would have experience in custom build-outs for Wi-Fi infrastructure and would possess a skill set aligned with the requirements of the role. The client seems to prioritize candidates with a deep understanding of telecommunications and networking, particularly those with experience in companies known for their expertise in these areas. They may possibly consider a remote candidate if they are a total rockstar and check all of the boxes. If the candidate is remote, they will require them to fly in 1x/every 2 months for 1 week at a time which the candidate will be fully responsible to pay for their flights, accommodation and stay. MUST HAVE Candidates need to have strong communication skills They will come from a telecom / Wi-Fi device manufacturer background / employers. Some companies would include: Plume, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Sagemcom and Cable Labs. I also included some additional companies below: They will have experience developing / engineering Wi-Fi Access Points They will have designed, tested and documented Wi-Fi devices Must have Wireshark experience. They will also be required to submit writing samples upon submissions. JOB OVERVIEW We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Engineer with deep expertise in Wi-Fi technologies to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. This role offers a unique opportunity to help drive the architecture, design, and development of future generations of carrier grade CPE devices and wireless access points. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with internal product and development teams and external industry organizations such as the Wi-Fi Alliance, driving the evolution of Wi-Fi networking, security, quality of service and mesh networking standards, participating in Interop events, and influencing next-generation Wi-Fi specifications. You will also contribute to the development of cutting-edge features for our Access Points (APs) and provide critical support to resolve field issues in production environments. Key Responsibilities Wi-Fi Alliance Engagement Actively represent Charters interests within the Wi-Fi Alliance, participating in working groups related to Wi-Fi security, interoperability, and future specifications. Provide technical expertise during specification reviews, ensuring alignment with the company's product roadmap and technical vision. Participate in Interop events, testing and validating the company's wireless solutions against industry standards and other vendors. Access Point Development Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and drive implementation of innovative features across our Access Point products. Design, test, and document new features, ensuring seamless integration with existing frameworks and systems. Develop and document test methodology toward requirements traceability and automation of device testing. Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex field issues, working closely with development, support, and customer-facing teams. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of hands-on experience in the design, development, and implementation of wireless networking solutions, preferably within a carrier grade Wi-Fi environment. Demonstrated expertise in Wi-Fi technologies, including in-depth understanding of 802.11 standards (e.g., 802.11be, 802.11ax, 802.11ac). Experience with Wi-Fi security protocols (WPA2, WPA3, etc.) and a strong understanding of wireless security best practices. Strong foundation in network engineering principles, including IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DSCP, routing, and switching. Proficiency with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, spectrum analyzers, ). Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical challenges. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives. Desired Skills Prior participation in Wi-Fi Alliance activities or other industry standards bodies. 15+ years of hands-on experience in the design, development, and implementation of wireless networking solutions, preferably within a carrier grade Wi-Fi environment. Track record of defining requirements, delivering hardware and software designs, and developing features for Wi-Fi gateways/devices. Knowledge and experience with embedded software languages (e.g. C) and tools, build systems, cross compilers, embedded Linux kernels and hardware abstraction layers. Understanding of OpenWRT, experience working with wireless protocol stacks and data models, and familiarity with the Linux connectivity stack.
