Sr. IT Engineer/System Admin (Citrix)

We need
someone who are Citrix expert know citrix XenDesktop(specially long-term
support version) able to build from scratch and to plan and design, as well as
Linux VDI(Redhat prefered) deployment experience.

Maybe
below questions would help filter:

For
Citrix related-

1) What
are the main roles of citrix farm servers

2) What
is persistence and pool VDI How to perform security patch update for each
model

3) How to
create VIP on Citrix loadbalancer ADC

4) What
is the version upgrade procedure for ctrix ADC

5) how to
setup citrix gateway integration with MFA

6) What
tool or method he/she is using to troubelshoot VDI client connection issue

For
non-citrix, please look for- Make sure the candidate has the below skills as
well:

1)
Managing Sharepoint on-prem/cloud, and migration experience with plan and
design are preferred.

2)
Managing Confluence experience

3)
Managing O365 Application such as Exchange online, AzureAD, Sharepoint online.

We spoke
to the hiring manager yesterday and he gave us the following updates to tailor
the search here:

They
are looking for someone who has experience deploying and supporting Red Hat
Linux VDI desktops.

Focus
on candidates who live in CA, they will not consider people who will be
relocating from out of state.

Additionally, candidates need to be expert level with Citrix.

As far as
NetScaler is concerned, they do not need full mastery-level, but they will also
be doing firmware upgrades, and patching for NetScaler.

Look
for at least version 7 of Citrix Must have extensive Citrix experience within
last 2-3 yrs

Ideally
needs NetScaler or Citrix ADC experience (this is one in the same, product name
has changed back and forth). Version isn't necessarily as important here. Could
ask what series it was, they should come back saying something like SDX, MPX or
VPX (model number not important, most likely if they know one or more of those
series names they have worked with the product)

Also,
here is the list of questions the SME will be reviewing with the candidates:

Review
your experience with Citrix products

1. Needs
to be XenApp/XenDesktop/Virtual Apps and Desktop (the offering from Citrix has
changed names over the years so you can get a couple of different answers
here). XenMobile is NOT what OmniVision is looking for. What is the latest
version of Citrix you have worked with

2. It
needs to be at minimum a 7.x, ideally one of the more current versions. This
one is hard to quantify as Citrix moved from a 7.x number to a build number.

Requirements:-

Experience
with Infrastructure virtual environment, VDI, Citrix Client Load balancer,
Backup& Restore, disaster recovery and business continuity

Excellent
knowledge of Windows Server 2016, 2019 Operating systems or above

Active
Directory (AD) & Domain Controller Administration including DNS and GPO
management in a multi-site environment

Building
and administering Windows servers and accompanying infrastructure, maintaining
capacity and performance in enterprise environment

Strong
knowledge of Microsoft Products, such as Exchange, SharePoint, Project, SQL
etc., on both on-prem and Microsoft O365

Manage/upgrade/migration
experience to O365 Cloud

Strong
knowledge of virtual environment, hypervisor, such as VMware Vcenter, hyperV,
etc.

Automation
scripting, such as Windows server PowerShell, MS Exchange Cmdlets

Understanding
of NAS\\SAN Storage, Replication, load balancing, and LAN\\WAN Technologies

Work with
vendors and perform upgrade/installation related activities, analysis and
troubleshooting issues to provide resolution and execute on any new enhancement
as required by business

Experience
and knowledge administering workflows and issue schemes in Jira Software and
Confluence

Experience
and ability to work in a fast-paced IT environment with fluctuating priorities
and deadlines

Minimum
of 8+ years of Sr. IT Engineer or Sr. IT System Engineer experience

Bachelors
degreee in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Must have
strong written and verbal communication, organizational, detail-oriented,
interpersonal and communication skills

Able to multi-task, work independently
and as a member of a team, interface with other branches of the organization,
work effectively with diverse constituencies, and solve problems and make
decisions while under pressure and time constraints
