Role: Mechanical Designer Location Lowell, MA (onsite 5 days/week) About the Position: The role holder is responsible for the Operations Department meeting all regulatory (code) mandated requirements relative to all plant drawings, complying with the companys Process Safety Program, including the 12 Risk Control Standards as they apply to plant drawings and complying with all aspects of the companys electronic drawing program. The role also includes the responsibility to develop and maintain all electronic drawings in an as-built status for all department assets. The successful role holder will be responsible for the development of standards that will be used throughout the department for all drawing documentation. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Uses AutoCAD equipment to provide support to engineers by preparing routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams. Makes copies of drawings and maintains information regarding changes to the database. Has a solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology. Possesses mechanical aptitude with the ability to complete basic mathematical calculations. Creates and revises drawings (detail and assembly drawings). Draws finished designs from sketches. Set up and maintains an organized file system for production drawings. Liaise with personnel from both internal and external to meet the electronic drawing representation of all department facilities. Evaluate and report on the current status of the departments asset configuration program. Develop a scoring or evaluative system that will allow for all assets to receive a rank with respect to compliance/non-compliance. Develop a plan that will move the department from drawing configuration management partial compliance to full compliance. Execute this plan in a methodical method to minimize departmental assets' exposure to non-compliance being cited in any audits (internal or external). While determining the state of the department with respect to asset configuration, use this research to develop a best practices document that can be used to develop the new system that will be put in place and used as the standard by which all assets will be compared. Responsible for preparing and maintaining a general arrangement, mechanical, P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams) Perform site visits and perform field verification to ensure the validity of drawings Conversion of existing drawing formats (viso, AutoCAD light, etc.) to a consistent singular format Develop and maintain an asset drawing database Develop and maintain a standardized drawing naming structure that will be used throughout all assets Work with departmental personnel to develop an electronic vendor resource library Develop, perform, and document any training programs that would be required to properly implement process safety in the LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) plants. Attend training sessions to increase and stay current with the requirements of asset representation via electronic documentation. Coordinate and manage drawings for facility assets. Ensure the delivery of updated drawings and illustrations for equipment and processes of LNG plants Become proficient in the department's Management of Change (MOC) policy so that the asset configuration documentation can remain current with respect to the ongoing capital projects and their effect on the documentation. Take responsibility for developing, maintaining, and reporting the KPI (Key Process Indicators) to the LNG process safety group relative to the status of the plant drawing program. Become knowledgeable in the 12 company RCS (Risk Control Standards) and how and what LNG Operations is required to do to meet these standards. Coordinate and manage drawings for facility assets. Ensure the delivery of updated drawings and illustrations for equipment and processes of LNG plants Become proficient in the PHA (Process Hazards Analysis) function by attending the necessary training classes, including but not limited to PHA, LOPA, FMEA, QRAs, Facility Siting, and SIS Become proficient in the companys Incident Management System so that you can provide assistance to the LNG plants in completing incident reporting as required. Knowledge & Experience Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or 5 years of supervisory experience, or 5 years of practical experience in methods, processes, and techniques relevant to LNG. Understanding of plant Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) with the ability to edit and verify Understanding of plant operations and maintenance functions is desirable. Experience performing compliance assessments or audits on plant drawing programs. Experience performing process safety risk assessments and using other process safety applications that affect plant drawing programs Must have strong organizational skills in order to develop and implement inspection programs and report on the results, and provide resolutions to findings. Must have the skills to work alone and as a member of a team Must have computer skills in order to develop reports and presentations Must have the ability to build effective, respectful working relationships. Must be flexible with assigned work projects within LNG Operations in order for the department to effectively deal with issues that arise as part of fulfilling its company and regulatory responsibilities Strong verbal and writing skills to ensure effective communications Strong engineering, project management, and analytical skills This is an onsite position at Lowell, MA with travel to Job sites.
