About the project Summary Rocktop is transitioning its technology footprint from historically internal tools to Solution as a Service and potentially SaaS. We have several production applications and data components in place through our 9-year technology evolution. While the platform has generally served its purposes, several new needs have arisen where a broad and deep data architecture review is needed. The summary of fundamental components and initiatives are outlined below, virtually all of which have work already in process. Engagement Requested We're looking for consultant expertise to engage with key stakeholders (~3-5) and key technical leaders (~2-4) to understand our current platform and short-term needs, and provide specific recommendations and options regarding data architecture, toolsets, and related recommendations. The Rocktop team is highly engaging and forthright in our business and technical needs, so we expect this engagement to be iterative and collaborative, and to be completed in 3-6 weeks. Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Data Architecture Consultant to support the development and enhancement of our data warehousing solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data modeling and designing robust data warehouse architectures using Azure-based technologies. While familiarity with the residential home mortgage and capital markets sectors is beneficial, it is not required. Responsibilities: Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with subject matter experts and business leaders to capture and document data warehouse requirements, from current needs to a three-year future outlook. System Review: Conduct a comprehensive review of our existing data warehouse to assess its current state and efficiency. Gap Analysis: Develop a detailed gap report to identify discrepancies between the current data warehouse capabilities and the documented requirements. Roadmap Assistance: Assist in creating a high-level roadmap to transition from the current state to the desired future state. Data Modeling Support: Collaborate with technical staff to design and present logical data models that align with both business objectives and technological advancements. Prototype Development: Code a proof of concept (POC) for one subject area to validate the proposed data solutions. Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations to both technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and clear communication on project progress and future plans. Qualifications: Experience in Data Modeling: At least 10 years of experience in data modeling, with a significant focus on designing data warehouse solutions. Advanced Knowledge in Data Warehousing: Minimum of 5 years specializing in data warehouse design, including experience with data lakes, data-lake houses, and Azure-based technologies such as Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, and Snowflake. Expertise in Modeling Techniques: Proficiency in various data warehouse modeling techniques including 3NF, Dimensional, Vault, and OBT. Industry Knowledge: Experience in the residential home mortgage, loan servicing, and capital markets industries is preferred. Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Azure data services and understanding of how to leverage them to meet complex data management needs. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Skills: Certification in Azure data technologies or similar platforms. Demonstrated ability to support projects and teams in a collaborative environment. Proven track record of successful project support and innovation in data architecture.
