Position : Mainframe and IMS DBA Location : Remote Client : HCL Duration : Long Term Job description: Manage the database and ensure 100% availability. # General Responsibilities Requires good problem solving skills. Ability to debug & diagnose DBMS system and utility software Requires IMS Sysplex experience & datasharing expertise Various types of IMS restarts (COLD/WARM/ERE). Knowledge about IMS SYSGEN process - Defining/Adding Transactions and Programs to the IMS system. Knowledge of IMS Controls Blocks (DBDs, PSBs, ACBs). Knowledge of IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) concepts and RECON datasets Should be able to handle the annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercise activities. Sound knowledge about IMS Logging - OLDS; SLDS; WADS;RLDS Command Codes: Concepts and usage of different command codes. Both Type 1 and Type 2 IMS commands and various IMS Utilities Working knowledge of IMS Upgrades. Checkpoint - Restart: Difference between Basic and Symbolic Check pointing and corresponding Restart logic. Secondary Indexing concepts Fast path database processing concept: Main Storage Databases (MSDBs) and Data Entry Databases (DEDBs) Difference between DLI and BMP modes. Different access methods: HDAM, HIDAM, PHDAM, PHIDAM etc...
