| Title:- Data Engineer Client: Republic Services Need from MST OR PST time Zone Location: 100% Remote Valid LinkedIn Profile Required Experience 15+ Notes for the Manager: Data engineer contractor project getting data in from third parties for trucks example: engine fault codes grabbing data and putting into a common consumable platform This role will come in and do the work for long term storage solutions in snowflake Build out the structure to store the data and build pipelines from platform that theyre building Technology: NoSQL and SQL databases ETL tools Geospatial systems exposure to it is helpful Hes looking for exposure or understanding of right now doing a lot of data that is truck specific does look like theyll ingest data around geofencing in the future Again grab data from all sources put it in a common structure and then other groups within Republic can build out dashboards and reports to be more efficient Example: Oil changes for trucks grab data when was the last oil change be proactive for when do oil changes instead of now we have 5 truck that need oil changes now so well be down a truck today Be more proactive or reactive engine is down lets determine whats happening on the vehicle provide data to the mechanic for whats happening on the vehicle before they even see it AWS (s3, Kinesis, Athena, glue) Scripting (python) JavaScript and node exposure They have somethings already built on AWS (temporarily) so having exposure to JavaScript and Node would be helpful to know to make it easier to convert to Snowflake More experience the better exposure to grab it understand and get moving 3rd party vendors on the trucks work through the end of the year truck data other things to pull in to end of next year Team: Rise space first data engineer on the team this person will work with the entire data engineer platform with in the org work closely with other peers in that space even though theyll be alone on the team will be in touch with the other group Communication is very important: POSITION SUMMARY: The Data Engineer is a hands-on technical role focused on full stack software development within the Enterprise Data organization. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Build data pipelines using Python. Hands-on experience using Object oriented programming like Python, Java. Knowledge working on AWS services like Lambda, Glue, EMR, S3, IAM, Kinesis. Experience working on RDBMS, NoSQL, and big data platforms. Advanced analytics like Speech, Audio and Video analytics experience is a plus. Participates in all aspects of the software life cycle using Agile development methodologies. Expected to work on development and production support. QUALIFICATIONS: 3+ years of experience with working content or knowledge management systems, search engines, relational databases, NoSQL databases, ETL tools, geospatial systems, or semantic technology. 3+ years of hands-on experience with NoSQL Database preferred. 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, Kinesis, Lambda, Athena, Glue, EMR) required. 5+ years of analytics tools like SAS, R, Python, and other advanced statistical software. 1+ years of Web development experience with Angular, JavaScript, and Node.js. Exposure to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Ability to multi-task effectively. Ability to work collaboratively as part of an Agile Team. MINIMUM QUALITIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics, or closely related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) required. 5+ years of experience in AWS services for data and analytics required. 5 years of experience in Data Ingestion, Data Extraction, and Data Integration required. Extensive knowledge and experience with Python, JavaScript and Java required. Experience with JSON or XML data modeling required. Experience with Git/GitHub, branching, or other modern source code management methodologies required. Knowledge of multiple programming environments, debugging tools, and test tools required. Domain knowledge of NoSQL or relational database required. Experience developing enterprise grade production software required. Understanding of database architecture and performance implications required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
