Title: Sr Software Architect Location: Rockville, MD Duration: Long Term Duties: Under the direction of the Contractors Project Manager, will be responsible for architecting the MDSIS and data conversion from the existing system into it. The Software Architect will provide other technical support as assigned by the Contractor Program/Project Manager to insure the implementation of a fully functional state financial aid within the mandated deadline. Capabilities: The Software Architect shall demonstrate excellent writing and oral communications skills in English. The Software Architect shall possess tact and patience in dealing with User community. The Software Architect shall demonstrate integrity, creativity, and perseverance in resolving difficulties. Shall possess skills in those technical areas involved in the implementation of a new system. The Software Architect shall possess a thorough knowledge of all functions of the Contractors application software. Technical skills shall include: A. Thorough knowledge of: 1. Technology trends in software development including object-oriented programming, multi-tier software development, component architectures and web-based software 2. Multiple computer languages, operating systems, application packages, database management systems, networks and hardware capabilities 3. System integration issues between diverse platforms 4. Enterprise and system modeling 5. Object-oriented analysis B. Ability to gather and analyze data and draw logical conclusions C. Routinely writes and publishes technical articles, papers, reports, journals or books on software engineering D. Has the ability to direct software and hardware benchmarks Required Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or another related scientific or technical discipline. A Masters degree is preferred. General Experience: At least eight (8) years of experience in leading systems analysis and conversion of records from a legacy database to a relational database (and object-oriented environment). Specialized Experience: At least four (4) years of the required eight (8) years of experience shall be in the supervision or oversight of projects involving the conversion of data from one system to another.
