Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator responsible for the day-to-day administration of all Linux-based servers. This includes monitoring the trouble ticket queue, system troubleshooting, implementing hardware and software system changes, scripting, patching, system performance monitoring, system sizing, system integration, upgrade implementation, and hardware diagnostics. (Contract) Role: - Linux System Administrator Location: San Jose, CA Client is TCS Technical/Functional Skills Core Responsibilities: Administer Linux-based servers including SUSE Linux and AIX. Monitor and manage the trouble ticket queue. Troubleshoot system issues and perform necessary hardware and software system changes. Script and automate routine tasks. Apply patches and updates to systems. Monitor and optimize system performance. Plan and execute system sizing and integration. Implement system upgrades and perform hardware diagnostics. Provide application support, working closely with application administrators to troubleshoot and fine-tune applications. Guide application administrators in best practices related to UNIX infrastructure. Maintain all system documentation. Required Skills and Qualifications: 8-10 years of hands-on experience with AIX, SUSE Linux, and VIO. Proven ability to perform UNIX builds, including RHEL. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both individually and within a team. Experience with HP and Dell rack mount servers. Knowledge of Veritas is a plus. Working knowledge of configuration management tools like SaltStack is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
