| Job Title: Validation Test Engineer Location: Detroit, MI Job Summary: The Propulsion System Engineer will be responsible for the triage, commissioning, and testing of internal combustion and high voltage vehicle propulsion systems. This role involves analyzing propulsion system issues, coordinating with various teams, and providing detailed feedback to ensure the seamless integration and functionality of powertrain systems in pre-production vehicles. Key Responsibilities: Triage and Commissioning: Triage, commission, and test internal combustion and high voltage vehicle propulsion systems. Perform first-level analysis for each issue, including data collection and data analysis. Issue Analysis and Debugging: Analyze current propulsion system issues and potential problems arising from interactions with other vehicle development nodes. Perform powertrain debugging and investigate software/calibration issues on pre-production vehicles. Coordination and Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with stakeholders such as the vehicle build team, software calibrators, and electrical/electronics (EE) wiring team to resolve issues. Provide structured feedback on triaged issues to immediate supervisors and other relevant stakeholders. Gather and manage data required for issue resolution in coordination with other teams. Required Experience and Skills: Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) architectures. Basic knowledge of electrical and automotive engineering principles. Basic knowledge of microcontrollers. Practical Experience: Experience in triage or testing of powertrain or electrified powertrain applications. Hands-on experience with ETAS INCA, Vector CANalyzer, VFLASH, etc. Experience in analyzing data and interpreting results. Coordination Skills: Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders for data gathering and issue resolution. Experience Level: 4-6 years of relevant experience in powertrain systems or electrified powertrain applications. Key Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and coordination abilities. Attention to detail and structured feedback reporting.
