DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The City of Austin, D/B/A Austin Energy, requires the services of an IT Network Consultant, hereafter referred to as Worker, who meets the general qualifications of an IT Network Consultant and the specifications outlined in this document for Austin Energy. ABOUT AUSTIN ENERGY: Austin Energy is the 8th largest community-owned electric utility in the country. We serve more than 530,000 customers and a population of almost one million. We provide service within the City of Austin, Travis County, and a small portion of Williamson County. Our annual revenues total $1.2 billion. The Utility has a diverse generation portfolio of more than 2,600 megawatts of traditional generation and more than 450 megawatts of renewable energy. Austin Energy has led the nation in sales of renewable energy by a utility-sponsored program for the last seven years in a row. The Utility also offers some of the most comprehensive rebates in the country for residential and commercial customers to make energy-efficiency improvements to their homes and buildings. WORK DESCRIPTION: We seek a driven, results-oriented individual to support the network team. This individual's primary responsibilities will include managing the existing wireless aspect of our software-defined network infrastructure and expanding that infrastructure to other locations. The primary responsibilities of this position are: - Inventory of all current wireless infrastructure. - Status checks and issue resolution of any known issues currently in production before expanding to additional sites. - Expand the service-defined network wireless infrastructure to additional campuses and sites. - Create, update, and maintain operational documentation. - Configuration, installation, and management of new access points. - Weekly status reports. - Daily monitoring of system status. - Resolution of tier-1 generic network incidents and requests. - Resolution of tier-2 and 3- technology-specific incidents and requests supporting wireless service. WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum (insert specific minimum skills for this Contract Position): Years Skills/Experience 4 Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver network solutions. 4 Configuring, implementing, and managing network devices. 4 Monitoring and troubleshooting complex network switches, routers, and firewalls. 4 Operating, managing, and supporting routing protocols, specifically BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and VXLAN. 4 Operating, managing, and supporting next-generation firewalls. 4 Operating, managing, and supporting wireless networks. 4 Operating, managing, and supporting DNS. 4 Operating, managing, and supporting software-defined networks. 4 Operating, managing, and supporting network access controls.
