From: David, Fluxtek solutions [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Job Title: Cloud Architect/Technical Lead Location: Chicago, IL 60604 3 days onsite per week Duration: 06 Months possibility of extension - There could be extension beyond that, but depends on budget approvals Project Overview: HM is looking for a cloud architect Looking for someone who can drive architectural direction but can also get hands on and help with initial build out Not looking for someone who is just interested in guiding, but is looking for someone who is willing to get their hands in the pot There are two parts of the project that they want this person involved in: The first biggest piece is that client is moving their client website application from a private cloud architecture which currently is Pivotal Cloud Foundry to Azure Public Cloud The other piece of work is that they are currently working on is to move existing CDM technology which is on their legacy content management system to Azure block storage and implement a workflow process for updating artifacts and publish them to the CDM. Role will start with that work and roll into public cloud work. For the Public Cloud Project Northern has a specific onboarding process to enable you to work in the Azure Environment. They are in the stage they call cloud readiness, which requires her team to do things such as completing the Azure training and ensure there is a Scrum Master, and be on GitHub, etc. They are currently in the phase that they are calling Cloud Enablement. They are wrapping up that activity, and as soon as they have all of those complete, they will apply for a design permit. This is the next step, and Lori is hoping to have this person in place to be a part of the design permit request. Then they will get a sandbox environment to start the design process. Skills and Requirements Someone that has done migration from either on prem or private cloud to azure cloud, looking for valid work in this space Looking for someone with working terraform experience, not just training At least 1 hands on migration experience Someone fairly senior who has been in tech space for 10+ years. Migration to Azure Public Cloud experience (flexible on where the migration started: on prem, private cloud, etc.) Responsibilities Work will be 60/40 or 50/50, more leadership than hands on. They will be building out the code to set up the infrastructure using Terraform. Will most likely work with their enterprise cloud team, because they do have some enablers already built out that they would have to potentially leverage, and work with those teams to understand, leverage and work through those specifics. Working with Loris existing team to define that target architecture and help her team implement it. There will be some leadership components but not team management. About the role: The HM team's main application is clients website. The website's front end is built in React. It is running on PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) and has several microservices in PCF. They use Adobe Experience Manager on the backend. There are two projects this person will be focused on (1 big and 1 small) The smaller project: This person will be working to move the Team Site to Adobe Experience Manager. They are in the last mile of this piece now. Their CDN (Content Delivery Network) is on Team Site and in order to get it off they have two parts: part 1 is public data (they have a solution for this already) and part 2 is the authenticated (private) files. The piece she needs the help with is getting the authenticated files onto CDN. They plan to do a POC (proof of concept) on an Azure Solution for this piece, so this architect would help finish this project first and then move onto the bigger project. The bigger project: moving clients website from PCF to Azure. All major applications at clients (Private Passport, Wealth Passport, Public Websites, etc) all have the same architecture and are all working to move from PCF to Azure, as well. Need someone with hands on PCF and Azure experience to be able to architect/direct, lead and execute the transition. Skillset: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is highly preferred. Hands on experience and strong knowledge of Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) Previous hands-on experience building out Microsoft Azure 7+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool: Terraform. Strong communication to articulate technical problems efficiently Team Player mentality - must be able to work well with others Leadership qualities Additional notes about skillset: Previous experience building out Microsoft Azure in the past is very important NOT someone who just "knows Azure," but someone who has truly been hands on. Need to be able to speak to a tangible project to show they've done that work before. This person will be a leader. Need to lead the other architects 'down the path'. They already have a large architecture team at client, so this person will work in tandem with that team and her own team to define the architecture and help them get to where they need to be. Need someone to help build the architecture AND help implement. Not someone who will just define, but someone who can "do", as well. Someone who isn't scared to get their hands dirty. Project Overview: Public website group...moving from Pivotal Cloud Foundry ....moving to Azure Public Cloud for Microservices Infrastructure Qualifications (must haves): Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience Three to Five (3-5) years of professional experience in technology or a related field Two to Three (2-3) years of professional experience with architecture-related concepts Two to Three (2-3) years of professional experience with Azure Cloud Computing Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert Tasks & Responsibilities: Works with the technical leadership team to define a technical architecture for PWS Cloud Public Architecture Highly flexible and adaptable to change Ensures the realization of the desired business outcome by implementing solutions and tracking those through to final development Exercises judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information Serves as objective escalation point for conflicts during the development process Mentors the team as needed to remove impediments, achieve project goals and grow less experience team members Provide solutions to complex problems Carries out the most complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and strategic execution Define best practices and development guidelines and ensures the team is aligned to those standards Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success as a team leader, including: Experience in architecting and designing technical solutions for Microsoft-centric solutions based on industry standards using any Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS capabilities.
