From: Shane, Abdisolutions [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Job Description Job Title: Automation Design Engineer Location: Open to remote if the candidate does first few weeks onboarding on-site (Arkansas) Contact: (Contract to Direct) C2C, however, must be able to convert to direct hire W2 after 6 months Interview Process: 1 Virtual Interview (meeting with 3-4 people one on one) Position Summary: The key responsibility of the Automation Project Engineer in the DSS group is to design and develop automated machinery and tooling to support the mass production of high-speed cables and connectors. This role involves leading the machine development process including sourcing equipment, quoting, mechanical design, and adhering to the project delivery schedule. The Project Engineer will oversee projects from initial concept through transition to global mass production sites, focusing on automation and full manufacturing solutions deployment. Top 3 Skills/Must Haves: Experience with Siemens NX PLM Software (ability to hit the ground running). 2+ years of Machine Design Experience. Experience reading electrical schematics Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Technology. Key Responsibilities: Provide assembly feasibility (Design for Manufacturability) and equipment cost estimates to the new product development team. Work with the engineering department to determine design completion dates. Design new cable manufacturing machinery utilizing Siemens NX CAD software. Assist in developing and executing the machine qualification plan. Provide technical support for the launch of equipment produced by the Automation Team. Travel to mass production facilities for machine installation and qualification, training of technicians and operators to ensure proper and safe operation of equipment, and develop re-tooling strategies. Attend Design Reviews and PFMEAs while working with design engineers to improve current and future designs of automation. Track projects using internal methods for summarizing component cost, labor, and lead time. Develop accurate, up-to-date BOMs and spare tooling lists. Support and contribute to completing projects according to internal product development procedures, TQM, and IS/QS-9000 requirements. Embrace Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO), and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures. International Travel: Up to 20% per year. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering Technology or Manufacturing. 2+ years of Machine Design Experience. Experience with Siemens NX or comparable 3D CAD package. Experience reading electrical schematics. Mechanical Design Experience simulations, prototypes, design from initial concept to production. Understanding of GD&T and knowledge of where to perform tolerance analysis. Experience managing project timelines, setting priorities, and completing projects in a systematic and timely manner. Experience performing testing, observing results, and making corrections. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Machine Building techniques/standards. Experience working with global teams. Experience working with interconnect or cables. Design experience in the electronics industry. Toolmaking knowledge (understanding of manual and CNC machining capabilities). Experience in the custom machinery space with a strong background in Tool and Die. What We Do: Define design tasks, put them together in CAD, and stay on target with deadlines. Design and build machinery to utilize our products, working in large data centers to move massive amounts of data. Develop automation tools to test products, focusing on Tool Design, Tool Design Standards, and Material Handling. Translate Project Engineer's visions into functional machinery and tools.
