Our technical staffing partner Rose International in Bothell, WA provides support to Fortune 500 companies including Amazon (AWS), Microsoft and Boeing Corporation. Rose International is seeking a Jr. Systems Engineer with 2+ years experience performing Akamai integrations related the CDN distributed edge systems along with hands-on monitoring tool experience (example Dynatrace, Prometheus or ELK Stack) in addition to a background with Linux operating systems. The objective of the Jr. Systems Engineer role is to join a team of other Sr. Systems Engineers performing secure Akamai CDN integrations in CI/CD, along with maintaining a Linux system to ensure performance and web acceleration techniques are applied toward Rose Internationals clients within an 24/7 mission control environment. Rose Internationals clients run an enterprise 24/7 infrastructure of 980+ virtual (AWS, Azure) and physical servers supporting 20k+ internal end-users.

Job Description:

OurclientisseekingaSystemsEngineerwhowillberesponsibleformanagingAkamaiCDNconfigurationsforhightraffichighlyiterativecustomerfacingwebsites.

KeyRolesandResponsibilitiesinclude:

Workwithstakeholderstodesign,author,implement,andtestAkamaichangesinpreproductionenvironmentandultimatelyoncecompletepropagatetoproduction.

ProvidetechnicaldesignandarchitecturalleadershipandworktogetherwithAkamaiprofessionalservicestoassessimpactsofchanges

ApplyPerformance,webaccelerationtechniques

Helpsetupandmaintainreportsrelatedtotrafficandusagedata,dashboardsforusageandperformanceanddocumentationdesignedtohelpinformandnotifystakeholders.

CreateandmaintaintoolsinterfacingwithvariousAkamaifeatures.

PerformAkamairelatedmaintenanceactivitiesonaregularbasis.

Beon-callforAkamairelatedeventsthatcouldoccurduringoffhoursandbeavailableforhelpingtroubleshootcustomerorreleaseimpactingincidents.

Research,analyzeandrecommendnewtechnologies,rationalizationopportunities,standardprocesses,toolsandtechniquestofurtherthefirmsapplicationandenterprisetechnologyarchitecturestrategies.

RequiredQualifications:

Musthave2yearsoflevelofreal-worldAkamaiconfigurationexperiencemanagingvariousAkamaifeaturesacrossmultipledomains.ExperiencewithotherCDNsconsidered.Ex.Fastly,Cloudflare,Imperva,CloudFront,etc.

ExperiencewithmonitoringtoolssuchasDynatrace,Prometheus/Grafana,ELKstack,abilitytounderstandmetricsandimpacttosystemperformance,andabilitytobuilddashboardsandalertstoensuresystemreliability.

ExperiencewithSiteshieldandotherAkamaisecurityfeatures.

Strongscriptingandcodingabilityacrossmultiplelanguagesandtechnologies

Willingnesstoworkflexiblehours,on callasneeded.

Provenexperienceoptimizingreliabilityandperformanceandscalingtechnicalinfrastructureinafastpacedandcollaborativeenvironment

Stronganalyticalskillsandabilitytoprovidedatadrivenrecommendationsforcriticaldecisionmaking,mainlyaroundsystemreconfigurationandimprovement

2+yearsofprogressiveexperienceincloudengineering,sitereliability,dev-ops,systeminfrastructure,orarelatedtechnicalrole

2+yearsofexperiencebuildingand/orsupportingwebapplications

2+yearsofLinuxOperatingSystemsexperienceincludingscripting

Excellentwrittenandverbalcommunicationskillswithdemonstratedabilitytopresentcomplextechnicalinformationinaclearmannertopeers,developers,andseniorleadersOptional

DesiredQualifications:

Internetsecurityrelatedexperience

Experienceinperformancetuningandapplicationmonitoring
