| Position: Enterprise Data Architect Location: Remote, Must be willing to travel to the client's office in Buffalo NY/WA DC for 3-4 days/month on client's expense Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and robust enterprise data architectures that support both operational and analytical workloads tailored to the unique requirements of the healthcare and health insurance domains, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations Architect solutions in Azure cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of data services and infrastructure. Develop and optimize high-performance SQL databases, applying best practices in database design and management specific to healthcare data sets, such as patient records, claims data Collaborate with healthcare professionals, policy experts, and cross-functional teams to translate complex healthcare requirements into effective technical solutions, aligning with broader enterprise architecture goals. Drive the adoption of modern data technologies and practices, including data modeling, data integration, and data warehousing, to enhance data accessibility, quality, and governance. Lead the integration of healthcare data sources into a cohesive data ecosystem, facilitating seamless data exchange and interoperability. Lead the integration of electronic health records (EHRs), claims processing systems, and other healthcare data sources into a cohesive data ecosystem, facilitating seamless data exchange and interoperability. Provide hands-on coding expertise and technical leadership in the development of data pipelines, ETL processes, and analytics platforms. Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data architecture, cloud computing, and software development, advocating for the adoption of innovative solutions that can provide competitive advantages. Required Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, with a proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise data systems with a significant focus on healthcare or health insurance data systems. Expertise in Azure cloud services, particularly those related to data storage, processing, and analytics (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure DataBricks, Azure Synapse Analytics). Strong foundation in SQL database development, performance tuning, and optimization. Demonstrable hands-on coding skills in languages such as SQL, Python, or similar, with the ability to prototype solutions and lead by example. Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes, with experience in designing solutions that support both real-time and batch data processing. Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and data security practices. Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare-related regulatory and compliance requirements. Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and the capability to drive architectural decisions at the enterprise level. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making processes. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in Azure architecture or data engineering (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate). Experience with big data technologies in a healthcare context. Understanding of advanced analytics, machine learning, and their applications in healthcare and insurance industries.
