Role name:Product Engineer (Mechanical)Role Description:Position Responsibilities: Plan, schedule, coordinate and lead the execution of detailed phases of engineering work as part of a larger project Direct the efforts of others in addition to contributing directly to the design and development of innovative, high quality, cost effective automotive components and complete assemblies typically used in automotive vehicle interiors. Lead new business pursuit activities by creating new component and complete assembly designs in accordance with the Customer requirements and BCS design guidelines; additional support activities may include creating presentation materials for and/or presenting in Customer design reviews as well as leading internal quoting activities and reviews. Spend an average of 50% of working time within the current BCS 3D & 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling & drafting software to design & detail primarily injection molded plastic components for BCS products. Review product designs for compliance with Customer specifications as applied to BCS products; conduct independent analysis of operating conditions and requirements proposed by Customers; create and execute test plans in support of program milestones and issue engineering test reports; analyze test and field returned parts to identify root cause and corrective actions for products as required. Directly interface with the Customer regarding product design, specification development, work requests and cost reduction activities; always represent BCS in a positive manner with our Customers. Work in conjunction with the BCS Purchasing and Global Tooling Groups to direct the activities of external suppliers in designing, developing and producing components and associated component tooling for BCS products. Support BCS Manufacturing and Quality teams within the various assembly plants on product design/manufacturability and assembly requirements for finished goods. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all BCS IATF policies and procedures in the application of job duties. Occasional regional, national or international travel may be required to support product design activities at Customer or supplier locations. Maintain and grow technical competencies by staying informed of new product & process technologies, attending educational workshops & BCS-sponsored training and reviewing industry & professional publications. Perform all other duties as assigned.Competencies:EIS : Automotive Body EngineeringExperience (Years):6-8Essential Skills: Detailed knowledge in the design of interior electromechanical and/or decorative products Extensive experience and a thorough understanding of the Automotive industry and product development processes In-depth experience of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within Design Engineering including basic stress-strain analysis, Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, tolerance stacks and root cause analysis UG NX & Team Center experience is a plus. Training will be provided as required. Ability to provide creative and practical design solutions to meet Customer requirements Advanced mathematical, technical and mechanical skills with an emphasis on hands-on experience Strong communication skills with an ability to lead and oversee the work of others Experience with the automotive PPAP process, engineering change systems and business processes Experience in high volume manufacturing processes and common quality control principles Familiarity with standardized and automotive laboratory test methods Computer literacy in basic PC-based office software English language competency Chinese language skill is a plusDesirable Skills:i.
