Role: Storage/System Engineer Location: 10 Park Plaza, Boston, In the fall may need to go to Lowell, MA for a few weeks. Overall remote, but need to be able to go onsite when hardware needs support. Visa: Only USC/GCEAD/H4ead, NO GC OR H1B Duration: 6 months to start, then possible 6-month extension plus possible conversation year 12 months. Interview Process: 2-3 rounds Job Description: Purpose and Scope The Storage\\Backup engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining our storage and backup environments both OnPrem and in the cloud. Primary role is to ensure the efficient operation, functionality, and stability of our storage\\backup environments. Principal Duties and Responsibilities System Administration: Manage storage and backup solutions. Set up backup and recovery processes for all production systems. Proactively plan for storage capacity and addressing storage capacity requests. Configure storage arrays. Setting up backup and recovery processes while ensuring data integrity. Troubleshooting NAS & SAN storage solutions and backup issues. Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate storage and backup systems with other technologies and ensure data security and compliance. Monitor storage and backup performance, resource utilization, and system logs to identify and resolve issues proactively. Develop and implement backup strategies to ensure data integrity and establish disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime in the event of system failures. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures, as well as generate reports on system performance and incidents. System Upgrades and Migrations: Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and hardware/software deployments, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with other IT teams, project managers, and stakeholders to support and contribute to the organizations overall technology goals and initiatives. Participate in weekend maintenance activities, as required. Perform general system administration duties for backup systems and storage Work as a technical resource on assigned projects with testing and response. Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the Authority's "Driven by Customer Service" quality standard Additional responsibilities may include focus on one or more departments or locations. Minimum Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field Minimum Experience and Required Skills Two (2) years of experience with systems administration and troubleshooting in a mid to large enterprise organization Experience supporting storage, storage security; experience supporting, maintaining and administering storage and backup; strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; effective organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, time management and interpersonal skills Proficiency with Word, Excel or PowerPoint applications Effectively communicate with customers, employees and vendors; have excellent customer service, speaking, writing and presentation skills Preferred Experience and Skills Extensive experience working with DELL/EMC branded block storage equipment- Unity and Power Store. Extensive experience working with DELL/EMC branded NAS Storage devices. Ability to manage and configure fiber channel switches including zoning and firmware upgrades. Experience with data deduplication hardware/software including DELL/EMC Power Protect/data domain devices. Administer backup architecture and resolve backup/restore issues.
