no USC/GC- any other visa -If USC/GC then they have to go on PV w2 and pv will give us hourly referral fee

Strongly prefer the candidate to have a familiarity with ADABAS utilities like to re-order a database and how long will the jobs run for. 

ADABAS related job, but doesnt want to preclude someone with extensive mainframe experience instead MUST Know ZOS Zos / Could also know DB2 and Mainframe / Zos 

REQUIRES WEEKEND WORK all of Saturday the maintenance takes place, scheduling jobs, file maintenance and product upgrades. SOME WEEKEND WORK ON A SEMI REGULAR BASIS 2 x a month, given time off in lieu during the week. (Put on top of resume that your candidate is good with being oncall and working the weekends required) IF you know Zos you can pick up ADABAS 

(like if an upgrade happens on a Saturday and verification happens on Sunday, you get off two days during the week) 

You are responsible for on-call once every six weeks. During one working week you may get called 1-3 days a week 

TOKYO Batch finishes at 8 am in the morning and the batch processes finish at around 2 pm or 5 or 6 pm. SATURAY WORK IS 8 Am to 6PM once every six weeks or so. 

Cross departmental work. They are a DBMS unit, work for scheduling team that schedules jobs. Performance team that schedules jobs. The gamut of services that work on mainframe, you will be doing that 

This is a rounded mainframe role focused on the database. Zos platform Zos platform. 

TOP 5 skills set 

Mainframe / Zos experience ISPF ISDS SFDS REXX programming 

Diagnosis and debugging skills of batch job failures in Zos 

Good JCL 

They have an ODBC and JDBC interface if the candidate has TCIP/IP skills and has ODBC and JDBC into the mainframe, DVM (IBM data virtualization manager) experience in this <--- HIGHLIGHT THIS if candidate has it. KEY WORDS. DVM they want 

Theyve built tools in NATURAL and goes through a change control package. They service 45,000 batch jobs a night. They wont ask you to debug a program, but to determine what the problem is be able to see that at a high level. 

As a language NATURAL (software AG) they release a product every month and this team upgrades it. They have a NATURAL administration role installing the run time environment. You will understand the key Meta Language around this. 

COBOL is .. it runs and looks after itself and they are interested in the run time environment of COBOL. Its not this groups responsibility to update the run time. COBOL is 10% of what they do 

NATURAL is 90% of what you should know 

Manager wants 15 years experience or more, will consider less years of experience. Like 10 years or more is good.

ADABAS Operations DBA Responsibilities include:

MUST HAVE CHECKLIST RECRUITERS MUST RUN CHECKLIST 

 
Monitor automation messages for database exception conditions.

Analyze application and database performance problems.

Initiates a shift turnover for issues or problems including any outstanding tickets, mails, abends, calls or messages that are still being worked on are communicated or handed over.

 
Responsible for the creation, scheduling, and support of database backup and maintenance processes.

 
Implement database turnover requests for all APG groups and application for all environments.

 
Perform verification for database maintenance upgrades.

Execute Weekend verification involving the running of the IVP and following up on outstanding reorgs, utilities, or replication tasks.

Provide support and assistance for the database engineering groups for Weekend work.

Support efforts for the database Performance Lab.

Preparing for, coordinating, writing up and communicating the summary of the weekend work.

Provide level one and level two support on database systems and address spaces.

Implement changes to database subsystem variables.

Monitor and read and respond to incoming mail and newsgroups relating to problems and questions.

Providing level one and level two support of the utility suite of applications.

Following the DTS procedures and policies for escalation and notification

Escalation to next Tier and/or management

Register events from clients into tracking tools

Performance weekend verification after infrastructure upgrades and system IPLs

Build tools to automate reporting, monitoring and improving platform stability

Test Upgrade and new product releases
