As a fully competent Engineer, independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements. Works with the Engineering Manager and Project Manager to define project objectives, prepare design estimates, and define project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects. Capable of acting as Lead Engineer on single discipline projects or smaller multi-discipline projects, responsible for determining design approach and working with design team to prepare required design documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.). Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project. Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Capable of preparing and verifying calculations using engineering formulas and skills or application specific software as required. Manages personal task assignments, and for designated projects manages assignments of other design team members to ensure adherence to scope, schedule and budget. Must be capable of directing project design teams comprised of engineers, designers and technicians on a single project. Monitors project execution milestones and schedules to ensure projects are completed on schedule. Performs technical and coordination checking/ review of deliverables and other project documents. Ensures deliverables comply with Business Unit procedures and meet applicable design requirements. Follows up on construction issues with design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely manner. Supervision of less experienced engineers or technical support personnel is exercised on an assignment basis and is not an on-going substantial component at this level Education/Experience/Licensure A four-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited college/university Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience.
