Job Title : Reliability Engineer Employment Type : Contract Location : Atlanta, GA Experience Level : 5+ Job Description Reliability Engineer Working with third party suppliers to ensure proper tracking and accounting of hazardous materials, and ensure compliance with DFP, OEM, and regulatory agency requirements. Prepare and maintain preliminary hazard analysis for new product developments to ensure compliance with OEM and/or regulatory requirements. Knowledge of reliability fundamentals including predictive modeling, root cause analysis, Corrective and Preventive Actions Identification, analysis, and mitigation of risk using techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMEA and FMECA), hazard analysis, system safety analysis and need for design change Ability to apply reliability planning, testing (accelerated life, stress screening, degradation, software etc.) and modeling (reliability block diagrams, failure modes etc.) to inform design choices Familiarity with life-cycle reliability through design techniques such as stress strength analysis, design of experiments (DoE), DFX, design for reliability and maintainability Understand basic reliability statistic and probability concepts such as probability functions and distributions, Statistical process control (SPC), sampling plans, confidence and tolerance intervals etc. Familiarity with Reliability calculations such as MTBF, MTTF, MTBUR etc. Apply techniques such as parts derating, COTs for selecting materials and components to meet reliability goals and requirements Participate in failure modes/corrective action process. Address design to cost, design for manufacturability, design to test, and reliability metrics of new developments. Establish plans to address gaps to requirements. Work with IFE Engineering, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, quality, supply chain, and/or third-party suppliers Work with engineering leadership, PMO and marketing, and supporting 3rd party suppliers with addressing technical issues and supporting schedule and program demands. Author engineering data which will be checked by peer groups or other project participants. Check engineering data which is authored by other engineers or project participants. Provide technical support during manufacturing of IFE equipment as required. Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures. Qualications: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or similar discipline) Degree from an accredited university, and 3 years of related experience in product and/or system development for aviation environment, or 8 years of related experience in product and/or system development for aviation environment. Knowledge of component selection processes, technical design, substantiation techniques and certification requirements. Working knowledge of MIL-HBK-217 reliability predictions and related tools. Ability to analyze incomplete information and implement timely decision making while mitigating risk factors. Preferred: Experience with Inflight Entertainment System design, component selection, qualification, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, substantiation, support of aviation products.
