Senior Project Manager Location : Lansing or Detroit, MI - Hybrid (local candidates only) Duration : 1 year with extension possibl JOB DESCRIPTION : This position serves as a senior-level IT project manager, providing oversight, leadership, and accountability for multiple small to medium-sized projects simultaneously or for a single large project. Responsibilities include: Functioning as a PMO resource to DTMB managers, supervisors, and staff involved in application maintenance and development. Developing, maintaining, and overseeing project schedules that are logical and resource-driven. Maintaining the change control process, managing, and tracking changes in scope. Identifying project issues and risks, escalating to senior management as appropriate. Monitoring project performance, reporting status, and facilitating the creation of action plans to ensure adherence to project schedules. Interacting with various teams to develop and maintain project schedules and related documents. Assisting in information gathering, budget analysis, project estimating, and procurement. Providing assistance on special projects and promoting compliance with the State Unified Information Technology Environment (SUITE), potentially utilizing Scrum methodology and practices. Clear and concise communication skills required. Top Skills & Years of Experience Required: Project Management Experience - 5 years Enterprise Management Tools - 3 years SUITE - Preferred SOM Experience - Preferred Managing projects with different sizes and risks: o Small projects (<6 months, =10 team members, low risk). o Medium projects (=6 months, >10 team members, medium/low risk). o Large projects (>6 months, =20 team members, medium/high risk). Ensuring consistency with the State of Michigan (SOM) project management, investment management, and systems engineering methodology (SUITE). Performing long-term release planning based on organizational direction. Regularly interacting with project management teams to update the status of budget, quality, and schedule. Escalating issues and risks as needed. Exercising project quality control activities to meet project scope expectations.
