As distributed energy resources (DERs) continue to gain traction with both energy providers and their customers, monitoring and managing flexibility has become a mission-critical activity. Distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS) are platforms that provide a wide range of tools to intelligently manage and dispatch aggregated portfolios of DERs. DERMS can support both front-of-meter (FTM) / grid DER and behind-the-meter (BTM) / edge DER management activities. Responsibilities The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze, manage, and optimize the performance and integration of DERs to ensure efficient and reliable grid operations Analyze and model the impact of distributed energy resources on the electrical grid to support optimal integration strategies. Collect, process, and analyze data from various DERs and the grid, applying advanced analytics to enhance energy generation and consumption efficiency. Utilize and develop software tools for the management and control of DERs, ensuring interoperability with existing grid infrastructure. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and policies related to DER operations, staying up to date with changes in the energy sector. Lead and participate in projects related to DER deployment and integration, coordinating with engineers, stakeholders, and utility companies. Requirements Proficiency in data analysis and modeling tools such as MATLAB and Python, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. In-depth knowledge of grid management systems and DER technologies, with familiarity in power systems and electrical grid operations. Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with various stakeholders and presenting technical information clearly. Relevant experience with distributed energy resources and grid management, with a preference for prior work in the energy sector or related fields. Required experience in large-scale enterprise deployment, implementation, and cutover, such as ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System). Knowledge in network modeling and load flow tools, as well as fundamentals of system architecture and integrations. Proficiency with tools such as CYME, SinCal, or other equivalent load flow tools.
