Position- Front End Developer IV 

Location- Richfield - MN only local - Onsite

Managers note:

Location: MN is preferred, team mainly comes in on Wednesdays (open to hub locations too)

Team (6 people: 2 senior, 2 mid, 2 junior) handles virtual sales entry points across the app on the web. We own the shop with an expert component and Blue Assist.

Provide chat opportunities to conversational AI and a virtual salesperson who is an expert in the field. (Example: if you are browsing DSLR, you can chat with someone in a warehouse, and they can show you the best options for what you are looking for) 

This is primarily a front-end role.
95% of the time is React Native. Backend could come into play during troubleshooting/debugging, but we won't really be working in databases. 

Team is primarily web based. So mobile experience is nice to have to help out when problems arise, but it isn't required.

We are relying on Kibana now, so that is a plus, but spunk is fine.

We will be partnering with the deployment team to debug. So having exposure to the deployment process with cloud is helpful. They won't need to set up servers. 

It would be very helpful to have someone who can mentor juniors on the team. We want a lead dev who has 4+ years of React Native, someone who can walk through problems, and explain principles. 

It's helpful to have large enterprise experience or be able to demonstrate flexibility if you come from a smaller environment. 

Needs to have really good communication skills. Should be able to ask this team for help...problem solve on my own...etc.. 

Needs to be strong at testing. 

Current work: we are modernizing and making updates to the shopping expert components and modernizing Blue Assist. 

Interview:

Ice breaker (10 mins)

Then technical and behavioral questions: 

Tell me about a failed deployment and how you fixed it

Tech questions about testing strategy, why you do or don't test

Coding exercise (will be in React Native or vanilla JavaScript)

Project Description:

This team is responsible for the Virtual Selling entry points across ***'s Mobile app. Our components are on nearly every screen and help the customer find the best support that they need, whether that's in person chat or a video consultation with an actual expert.

Position Summary/Job Description:

You will be part of a *** engineering team responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions that will reach massive scale.

Use your creative and innovation-driven mindset to articulate engineering design strategies related to scale, performance, security, and usability.

Guide and pair-program with junior engineers throughout the development process. Advocate for clean code and other best practices through PRs.

Use modern web development tools and technologies

Skills Overview:

What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job

8+ years of software engineering experience JavaScript / React / Node

4+ years of experience with React Native / Expo

Solid technical communication skills with business partners and other engineering teams

Experience with modern testing tools (Cypress, Jest, React Testing Library)

Exposure to Cloud Infrastructure - AWS

Solid debugging skills and experience with tools such as Splunk and Kibana

Understanding of mobile development best practices

Willingness to guide and mentor junior developers on the team

What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for

iOS / Android development experience

Experience working on large projects and codebases
