Role: Mainframe DB2 Administrator Location: Louisville, KY or Cincinnati, OH (Only Locals) Duration: Contract Experience: Minimum 10+ years Keyskills: DB2 Admin Note: Only H1 Visa who can share PP (Dont share GC, GC EAD, H4, OPT/CPT) Role Description: Responsibilities: Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 databases on mainframe systems. Implement and maintain database security, integrity, and availability. Perform regular database maintenance activities including backups, restores, reorganization, and updates. Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues. Optimize SQL queries and database performance. Implement and manage performance tuning and optimization techniques. Diagnose and troubleshoot database-related issues. Provide on-call support for critical database problems. Work closely with application development teams to resolve database-related issues. Develop and maintain automation scripts for database management tasks. Implement and manage automated job schedules for database maintenance. Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes. Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for database administration tasks. Collaborate with IT teams to design, implement, and support database solutions. Work closely with business units to understand their data requirements and provide appropriate solutions. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience as a Mainframe DB2 Administrator. Strong knowledge of DB2 database administration, configuration, and performance tuning. Proficiency in mainframe operating systems (z/OS). Experience with database backup and recovery processes. Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., REXX, JCL). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. On-call availability for database support as needed. Certifications in DB2 or mainframe technologies (preferred). Experience with DB2 Connect, QMF, and other related tools (preferred). Knowledge of other mainframe database systems (e.g., IMS) (preferred).
