In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing our navigation data, ensuring accuracy and reliability for our users. Your expertise in Python, SQL, and geospatial libraries will be key in analyzing and manipulating complex data sets. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from diverse sources and leverage open-source research to improve the quality of our navigation products. Key Responsibilities: Data Analysis and Manipulation: Utilize Pandas, Python, and open-source libraries to analyze, clean, and transform geospatial data for navigation purposes. SQL Expertise: Write and debug complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL preferred) to interact with and manage geospatial databases. Command Line Proficiency: Demonstrate fluency with the command line interface (bash, zshell) for efficient data processing and automation. Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts for automating data processing tasks and integrating with proprietary tools. Data Structure Understanding: Grasp the underlying data structures of navigation systems and how maintenance edits impact them. Proprietary Tools: Learn and utilize our proprietary database CLI and complete training for map data editing, tracking, and reporting. Open-Source Research: Conduct research using open-source tools and resources to corroborate and enrich map data. Registered Data Sources: Access and utilize registered data sources for targeted research and validation. Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and product managers, to integrate data and deliver high-quality navigation solutions. Communication: Clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications: Essential: Proven experience (7+ years) in geospatial data analysis and manipulation, with a focus on navigation applications. Strong proficiency in Python, Pandas, and relevant geospatial libraries (e.g., Shapely). Expertise in writing and debugging SQL queries (PostgreSQL preferred). Demonstrated fluency with command line interfaces (bash, zshell). Experience or the ability to quickly learn proprietary database CLIs. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred: Basic scripting ability (e.g., Python, bash). Familiarity with macOS, Numbers, Pages, Slack, Quip, Mail, and Calendar. Experience in conducting open-source research for map data validation. Familiarity with registered data sources relevant to navigation.
