| Hi GC,USC AND TN Control Engineer||| Warren, MI Onsite Warren, MI Start on 1st shift and then will switch to offshifts if needed, required to be flexible with shifts 1st Shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm 2nd : 3:00pm to 11:30 Pm 3rd : 11:00 PM to 7:30 am Description: The career level senior process engineer is responsible for Program Execution for Machine Controls and Robotics. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment. Responsibilities include but not limited to: New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff) Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts. Manage deliveries to program timing milestones. Provide project report outs to senior management. Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.) Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all customers/plants. Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers. Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems. Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology. Job Responsibilities: Engineer and design pneumatic piping diagrams. Engineer and design electrical wiring diagrams. Engineer and design hydraulic piping diagrams. Design electrical control panels. Design programmable logic controller software. Design programmable human machine interface (HMI) software. Tryout, debug and provide start-up support for control systems. Provide technical support for installation of tools and equipment. Provide technical support for training of plant personnel. Travel to plant sites as required. Travel as required. Basic Skills Required (5-7 years of experience as a controls/robotics engineer) Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process. Experience in PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Devicenet networks Knowledge of servo motors, motion control and drives Provide technical expertise on the design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch, and continuous improvement of the Plant Floor systems (PFS) Experience in Fanuc robots setup and programming Problem solving, analytical, interpersonal and communications skills required. Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems. Demonstrated Excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results. Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others. Proven ability in project management skills Multiple different manufacturing controls and/or robotics assignments with successful individual achievements Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems. Self motivated and ability to multitask. Preferred Skills Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus. Understanding of GMS and 4 walls within the site or program Prior work experience as controls engineers in the automotive field Knowledge of GMs global controls architecture Education Bachelors degree with major in engineering or equivalent experience/training.
