This role is for a financial client in Chicago and involves a hybrid onsite work arrangement. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in Linux administration, with expertise in Red Hat Linux. Key Responsibilities: Red Hat Linux Administration: Manage and administer Red Hat Linux systems ensuring optimal performance and reliability. L3 Support: Provide Level 3 support for complex technical issues and escalations. Patching & Package Management: Oversee the application of patches and package management to ensure systems are up to date and secure. Linux Kernel Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve kernel-related issues to maintain system stability. File System and LVMs: Manage and troubleshoot file systems and Logical Volume Managers (LVMs). SELinux and Server Hardening: Implement SELinux policies and server hardening practices to enhance system security. ServiceNow: Utilize ServiceNow for incident, problem, and change management. Shell Scripting: Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate Linux administration tasks. Ansible Playbooks: Write and manage Ansible playbooks for configuration management and automation. Security Patches: Apply security patches and maintain a large number of servers (20,000 to 30,000). Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of Linux systems. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in Linux administration, specifically with Red Hat Linux. Technical Skills: Proficient in Linux kernel troubleshooting. Extensive experience with file systems and LVMs. Strong knowledge of SELinux and server hardening techniques. Proficient in scripting languages, especially Shell scripting. Experience writing Ansible playbooks. Familiarity with ServiceNow for IT service management. Security: Strong understanding of security patching and maintaining large server environments. Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Location: Preferably local to Chicago or nearby areas for hybrid work arrangement.
