| Title: AWS Cloud Engineer Location St. Chelsea MA Duration: 9 months W/ option to extend Visa: No H1 SkillSets- AWS RDS, Oracle DB, SQL Position Overview: This individual will play a critical role in migrating our on-premises Oracle and SQL Server databases to AWS RDS and converting some of these databases to PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS RDS, strong knowledge of database migration strategies, and the ability to work closely with our in-house database support team to ensure a smooth transition. Key Responsibilities: Lead the migration of on-premises Oracle and SQL Server databases to AWS RDS. Convert select databases from Oracle/SQL Server to PostgreSQL. Develop and execute a comprehensive migration strategy, including planning, design, and implementation. Collaborate with the in-house database support team to transfer knowledge and ensure they are equipped to manage and maintain the new RDS environment. Perform database performance tuning and optimization in the new RDS environment. Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance throughout the migration process. Create detailed documentation of the migration processes, configurations, and best practices. Provide post-migration support and troubleshooting to ensure all databases are running efficiently on AWS RDS. Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS RDS features, best practices, and industry trends. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience in migrating on-premises databases to AWS RDS. Strong knowledge of AWS RDS, including setup, configuration, and maintenance. Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases. Experience with database migration tools and techniques (e.g., AWS Database Migration Service, Schema Conversion Tool). Familiarity with AWS services and infrastructure, including IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, and CloudWatch. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions DArchitect) is a plus. Preferred Skills: Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. Knowledge of database security best practices. Understanding of data compliance and governance requirements. Ability to script and automate tasks using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
