Job Title : Desktop Engineering Location : Des Moines, IA Duration : Long Term Job Details Job summary: Patch deployment/management of Windows desktop and various software deployed to desktops. Working in Microsoft System Center and utilizing MS Endpoint Manager Application packaging for deployment to Windows devices Documentation of process and assuring continual process improvement Manage and maintain Windows automated build process for corporate end user devices Working on and troubleshooting issues with Windows 10/11 desktops Azure Virtual Desktop deployment and environment management along with application deployment to AVD Job Description: This position is part of the End User Technology Desktop Engineering Team, which is responsible for administering and delivering modern deployment and management of the desktop environment at Athene. This will include but not be limited to desktop builds, monthly patching, packaging applications for deployment in SCCM, and tier 3 desktop troubleshooting. Some key requirements are Design and implement new solutions for desktop automation including desktop build, application packaging and deployment, patching, virtual desktop Application packaging and deployment automation to Windows 10/11 desktops including but not limited to MSI and MSIX for Windows devices. Automated deployment/implementation of various vendor software to desktops Documenting processes and assuring continuous review of processes for maintenance and process improvement Manage and implement monthly and immediate (zero-day) patches for corporate end user devices running Windows Desktop 10/11 using System Center as well as vendor-based patching mechanisms. This will include documenting process and assessing process for continuous improvement Azure Virtual Desktop management along with the Senior Engineer to deploy, automate, maintain, and troubleshoot issues Maintain and develop Autopilot build and imaging process of corporate end user devices specifically for Windows 10/11 desktops Work in ticketing system to manage issues and report solutions General troubleshooting of issues with Windows 10/11 desktop deployments and level 3 incidents that may occur from time to time. May require contacting and working with Microsoft or other vendor support. Additional experience in Active Directory Group Policy utilization a plus. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience IT certifications are a plus 3+ years of applicable IT experience. Experience in the following: Microsoft System Center, desktop patch deployment/management, MSI/MSIX application packaging, Autopilot automated build technology, Azure Endpoint Manager, troubleshooting laptop/desktop hardware and software related issues, Azure Virtual Desktop experience is a plus. Strong problem solving and analytic skills Expectations from this role: Resolve L1 Incident and service requests within agreed SLA. Good communication skills (Written, verbal and email etiquette) to interact with different teams and customers. Networking: Good in Monitoring tools and Device back up scheduling. Basic DHCP and DNS configuration in routers and switches. Basic troubleshooting skills in show ip route sh mac address-table etc. Static and dynamic IP routing protocols basics Server: Basic to intermediate PowerShell / BASH/Python scripting skills. Manual patch of QA server. Analyse space alerts from a server and engage Capacity Mgmt. team for disc expansion. Storage and Back up. Ability to handle Storage and Backup issues independently. Ability to handle Vendor management, Device management, Storage array managementc. Perform Hardware upgrades, firmware upgrades, Vulnerability remediation. Ticket analysis, Storage and backup Performance management, various trouble shootings. Database :Patching and upgrading the DB server and application tools. Tweak queries making them run as fast as possible. Logical and Physical Schema design (indexing, constraints, partitioning, etc. Ability to visualize, debug the end-to-end flow of business transaction model and applications. DB migration, export/import. Networking: IP addressing and Subnetting knowledge. Preferably certified in Cisco's basic certification track. IOS upgradation knowledge and IOS patching knowledge. Server: Intermediate level knowledge in active directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, IIS, patch management. Strong knowledge in backup tools such as Veritas/Commvault/Windows backup, storage concepts etc. Strong Virtualization and basic cloud knowledge. AD group policy management, group policy tools and troubleshooting GPO alertse. Basic AD, object creation, DNS concepts, DHCP, DFSf. Knowledge with tools like SCCM, SCOM administration5) Storage and Backup In depth knowledge in Storage & Backup technology, Storage allocation and reclamation, Backup policy creation and management. Strong knowledge in server, Network and virtualization technologies. Tool Knowledge :Understanding of key network monitoring protocols including SNMP, NetFlow, WMI, syslog, etcd.
