Job Title: SDET Lead (Software Development Engineer in Test Lead - Banking) Job Location: Chicago, IL-Onsite Job Summary: As an SDET Lead with banking experience, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our banking software applications through effective testing strategies and automation. You will lead a team of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) or QA Engineers, collaborating closely with development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to implement robust testing frameworks and methodologies aligned with banking industry standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities: Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of SDETs or QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Provide technical guidance and support to ensure the team delivers high-quality automated test solutions. Test Strategy and Planning: Define and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans tailored to banking software applications. Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize test cases, ensuring coverage of critical banking functionalities and regulatory requirements. Automation Framework Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reusable automated test frameworks specifically for banking applications. Implement best practices for test automation, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. Test Execution and Reporting: Execute automated and manual tests, analyze test results, and provide timely and accurate reports on test status and quality metrics. Identify, document, and track defects, working closely with development teams to ensure resolution and mitigation. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure testing processes and automation solutions comply with banking industry regulations, standards, and security protocols. Stay informed about regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to testing practices as required. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing processes, tools, and methodologies, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies. Proactively identify opportunities to optimize testing efficiency and effectiveness within the banking context. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, compliance officers, and operations to align on testing priorities and quality goals. Communicate testing progress, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Qualifications: Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or others used for test automation. Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI). Banking and Financial Services Expertise: Solid understanding of banking operations, financial products, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, GDPR, PCI-DSS). Previous experience in testing banking applications, including core banking systems, payment processing, and online banking platforms. Leadership and Management Abilities: Proven leadership skills with experience in leading and mentoring teams of SDETs or QA engineers. Ability to define and execute strategic testing initiatives aligned with organizational goals and banking industry standards. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and issues to diverse stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and build consensus on quality assurance practices. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Several years of experience in software testing and test automation, with significant experience in a leadership or senior role within the banking or financial services industry. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) or project management (e.g., PMP). Experience with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) in a banking environment.
