This is a process that consists of: Analyzing and segmenting the data (i.e., seasonality, intermittency, trending) Determining the appropriate level to forecast at ( forecast tree ) Creating profiles based on those segments Assigning models to those profiles Adjusting the parameters for those profiles and models Fine-tuning the algorithms, considering seasonal trends, product demand variability, significance, and local causal factors. This tends to be fairly interactive such as identifying combinations with suboptimal forecasts, understand the reasons and determine corrective actions. We used in the past a combination of weighted MAPE and bias to evaluate the effectiveness of this optimizing (i.e., use 2020 2022 historical data to forecast 2023 and compare that to actual 2023 demand).This is not a system admin or technical role. This requires specifically the ability to work with statistics and configuring the Oracle Demantra Statistical Engine.
