Exceptional written and oral communication skills. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Functions as technical consultant or technical project leader for projects to which assigned. Performs time estimates, and regularly reviews work plans. Translates high-level work plans and converts to detailed assignments for team members. Administers, maintains, develops, and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the organizations databases. Responsible for day-to-day security administration of the data systems and data networks including systems access administration. Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Interfaces with user community to understand their security needs and implements procedures to accommodate them. Ensures that user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security. Implements complex data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes. Installs database related products. Functions as a lead technical resource for data warehouse projects and provide training and high-level support to the Application Developers and Systems Analysts. Establishes user requirements, and creates new standards and procedures related to end user and internal interface development. Provides expert technical support to ensure the overall security and integrity of electronic data, data systems, and data networks. Participates in the design of programs to include policies, standards, guidelines, training programs, and a viable quality assurance process for disaster recovery of the organizations databases. Participates in the review of testing and implementation of software, data systems, and data networks to ensure that the integrity and security of all electronic data and data systems are adequately protected. Works in data warehouse environment which includes data design, database architecture, metadata, and repository creation. Maintains database dictionaries, monitors standards and procedures, and integrates systems through database design. Translates business needs into long-term architecture solutions. Defines, designs, and builds complex dimensional databases. Develops data warehousing blueprints, evaluates hardware and software platforms, and integrates systems. Evaluates reusability of current data for additional analyses. Reviews object and data models and the metadata repository to structure the data for better management and quicker access. Facilitates the preparation of a system-wide resumption plan and ensures that the business resumption plan adequately addresses the system requirements and established time frames. Coordinates and establishes disaster recovery programs and business resumption planning across mainframe and client server platforms. Coordinates and monitors simulation testing across all platforms. Aids in investigation, planning, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of disaster recovery plans. Maintains a mastery of technical knowledge in two BCPSS application programs, databases, operating systems, customer data retrieval processes, or network configurations. Participates in the training programs offered to increase technical, interpersonal and communication skills and proficiency related to the project to which assigned. Utilizes tact and exercises good judgement in interacting with the general public, school, and central office personnel.
