Manufacturing Automation Engineer - Automotive Welding (Warren, MI)

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Automation Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying cutting-edge manufacturing processes for laser welding, spot welding, and GMAW applications within our automotive manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize weld process parameters for various materials (aluminum and steel)
Conduct comprehensive weld testing to ensure quality and adherence to industry standards
Integrate industrial controls and automation systems for seamless welding operations
Provide technical support and training to production personnel on automation and control systems (Highly Important Skill)
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to welding processes, robots, and automation equipment
Assist in the launch of new assembly lines, ensuring smooth integration of automation systems
Continuously improve manufacturing processes through automation and optimization

Required Skills and Experience:
6-8 years of experience as a Controls Engineer in an automotive manufacturing environment
Solid expertise in industrial machine vision systems (Highly Important Skill)
Proficient in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley PLC-5, ControlLogix, PanelView), robot programming (FANUC, ABB), and machine vision software (Matrox, Cognex, Keyence)
Experience with industrial controls and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and error checking
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a fast-paced production environment
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous learning

Preferred Skills:
Experience with additional PLC brands (Siemens, Omron)
Certifications in PLC and Robot Programming
